    • Red and Ruth had no issue. They are buried next to James Edwin and Zada Gentry and Jess Gentry . Some family members remember his first name as Richard, but Thomas James Strong of Arizona is sure it is Ralph. Lynell Gentry Cordell is sure it is Richard, which can be substantiated by census records and his obituary. He was most often known by his nickname, Red. He was a taxi driver in Duncan, OK for many years.

      MERIDIAN -- Richard Meeks, 79, of Meridian died Sunday, May 30, 1993, in a Meridian nursing home.

      Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Duncan Cemetery with Ron Slough officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home in Duncan.

      Mr. Meeks was born Nov. 22, 1913 in Marlow to Walter and Hattie Meeks. A retired driver for Commercial Transportation, he was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. On April 7, 1951, he married Ruth Gentry in Duncan. Survivors include his wife of the home and a sister, Mammie Lee Meeks of Duncan. (Courtesy of Lynell Gentry Cordell).
