James Ralph "Jim" Harper Sr., 69, of Kirbyville died Friday, Oct. 7, 1994, at his residence.
Funeral services were held at the Stringer Funeral Home chapel in Kirbyville. Interment followed at Harper's Chapel Cemetery near Hemphill.
Harper was a native of the Sabinetown community in Sabine County. He had lived in Kirbyville several years and was retired from the U.S. Navy and the Texas Forest Service.
Survivors: Grace G. Harper of Kirbyville; daughters, Grace Elaine Vance of Midway and Lois Wynette Sowell of Jasper: a son, James Ralph Harper Jr. of Escondido, California; sister, Sallie Mae Tortoris of Kirbyville and Emmalou Hawthorne of Silsbee; and nine grandchildren.
