  Notes	William Sylvester Crowell passed from this life at home in Jasper, Texas, on January 15, 2024 at the age of 97. He was born on May 25, 1926, to Levi and Sarah Crowell in Gandy, Louisiana. Bill was the oldest child of four and outlived Rae and Faye, his sisters and Doyle, his brother. Bill and Gloria were married in 1951 and celebrated 72 years of marriage on September 29, 2023. They attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper for the last 20 plus years He retired from Southwestern Bell in 1985 and spent his days hunting and fishing with occasional honey-do's for Gloria during retirement. He had almost 40 years of retirement doing the things he enjoyed. Bill and Gloria spent a lot of days on camping trips, usually around lakes where he could fish. He hunted many falls in Colorado for numerous years and made hunting trips to New Mexico and Wyoming with Gloria coming with him several times. They enjoyed their camping trips together through the many years of their marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son, Randy. He will be sorely missed by his wife, Gloria; son, Philip and wife, Sharon; daughter, Pam, and grandson, Clay and wife ,Kathy. He is also survived by Gloria's nieces, Ramona and Peggy and their brother, Mike, who visited their home often. Graveside service will be held at Harpers Chapel Cemetery in Sabinetown, Thursday, January 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas with Bro.
