    • Mrs. Roberta Louise Lyons of San Augustine, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020, in San Augustine at the age of 79 years, 2 months, 10 days.

      "Louise" was born in Stinnett, Texas, on October 22, 1940, and had lived in San Augustine County since 1999. She received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics and Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. During her professional life, she had achieved many accolades and awards but her passion was education and teaching young people. She retired from teaching in San Augustine. Prior to teaching in San Augustine, she had taught science and art in Houston, San Antonio, Florida, and Germany.

      Louise is survived by her husband, Duke Lyons of San Augustine, Texas; her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and John Barry of Melbourne, Australia; her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Allison Lyons of Houston, Texas; her four grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew Barry of Melbourne, Australia, and Sarah and Jake Lyons of Houston, Texas; brothers, Bill Womble of Dallas, Texas, and Dub Womble of Spearman, Texas; as well as sisters, Betty Helen Anderson and Kathy Womble of Lubbock, Texas.

      Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Robert "Boy" and Helen Womble; as well as two sisters, Donna Nell Smith and Peggy Fondren.

      A memorial service has been planned for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020, at Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, located at 316 W. Columbia Street in San Augustine, Texas.

      Following the service, the family will be hosting a reception for family and friends at the residence.

      In lieu of flowers, the family of Louise Lyons would be honored if you could donate to Port Macquarie Koala Hospital or WIRES in Australia to assist in the recovery aid of the wild life injured in the Australian bush fires where her daughter and grandchildren live. Please make your donations in her name as a tribute.
