      Frances Ola Rice

      Frances Ola Rice, 89, of Pineland died Monday, March 5, 2001 at Autumn Hills Nursing Home in Friendswood.

      Mrs. Rice, born April 27, 1911, in the Remling community as a daughter of the late Minnie Lee (Travis) and Wiley Huiet Morrison Sr., had lived in Pearland eight years and had formerly lived in Nederland. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Silsbee.

      Survivors: a daughter, Dorothy Lee Linder of Pearland; brothers, Starlin Morrison of Nederland, James A. "Twister" Morrison of Jasper, and Odie Lee Morrison and W.H. "Jake" Morrison, both of Hemphill; a sister Onie B. Gomer of Pt. Neches; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

      Funeral services were held March 8 at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc in Hemphill. Interment followed at Hemphill City Cemetery.

      Here is his obit: SOURCE: Obituary, published in the Beaumont Enterprise, Friday, 1 February 2002 Starlin Green "Cap" Morrison Starlin Morrison, 92, of Nederland died Wednesday January 30, 2002 at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur. Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Fairmount, Texas. A gathering of friends will be held Saturday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. at Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland. A native of Hemphill, Texas he had lived in Nederland for 35 years and Kirbyville for 26 years. He was a retired Machinist for Gulf Oil Corporation for 30 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Nederland and Central Baptist in Kirbyville. Survivors include his daughter and her husband, Lurlene and Travis Alexander of Beaumont, sons and their wives Dwain and Martha Morrison and James W. and Carolyn Morrison all of Nederland, sister Onie B Gomer of Port Neches, brothers and their wives, Odie Lee and Mavis Morrison and Wiley H. "Jake" and Margie Morrison all of Hemphill, 8 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of the Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville.

Graveside services were held at 3 PM Friday, Jan. 4, 2002 at Ebenezer Cemetery under the Direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. A native of Hemphill, Jim was a longtime resident of Plum Ridge and was a retired butcher and a veteran of World War II. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Coates Morrison and is survived by 3 Step-Sons and their wives; Lee Roy Bronson and wife Billie of Plum Ridge, Billy Wayne Coates and wife Francine of Plum Ridge, and Robert P. Coates and wife Wilma of Lumberton; 1 Sister, Ona B. Gomer of Pt. Neches; 3 Brothers, Starling Morrison of Nederland, Ode Lee Morrison of Hemphill and Jake Morrison also of Hemphill; 11 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren and a number of Nieces and Nephews.
