    • The Striffler-Benkelman Broadcast, Vol. 7, September 4, 1944, noted that he was honorably discharged from the armed forces sometime prior to their publication date. Vol. 8 of the Broadcast, dated September 3, 1945, showed that Mr. and Mrs. Mark Darling were the parents of Carol Sue, born sometime during the prior year.

      Mark Darling

      Mark O. Darling, 75, of Waterford died May 9 at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital. He was born July 2, 1920 in Cass City to Owen W. and Martha (Mark) Darling.

      He graduated from Cass City High School in 1938 and was a World War II veteran.

      He was retired from GMC Truk and Bus Division after 38 years of service.

      Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth BLACK Darling, a daughter, Carol NOBLE of Waterford; 2 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, James (Violet), Donald (Joan), Robert (Navetta), Fred (Pat) and Gerald (Sue) Darling; 2 sisters, Mary (Carl) GEISTER and Norma (Clark) CRYDERMAN, and many nieces and nephews.

      The funeral service was held at Huntoon Funeral Home, Huron St. Chapel, in Pontiac, May 11.

      Interment was in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery.

    • The 1941 issue of the Striffler-Benkelman Broadcast showed that Mr. and Mrs. Owen Darling of Brown City observed their 25th anniversary Apr. 19, 1941. The STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, Volume 26, September 5, 1966, reported that they were honored at a reception at the home of their son Jim in celebration of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Their eight children and families planned the celebration.
