    Notes 
    • She and Harry were twins, and always attended the "Twin Picnic" in their hometown of Cassville. Both she and her brother attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. Hazel graduated in 1916, a year after her brother and her husband to be, Jack Nies. Union is a Seventh-day Adventist school. Hazel studied shorthand while in college. She played the piano and taught vocal lessons. Her obituary, published inthe Adventist Review and Herald, read: "NIES, Hazel Emily Bossert, b. Jan. 26, 1894 in Cassville, Grant County, Wis., d. June 4, 1981, Ventura Estates, Newbury Park, Calif. She and her husband Jacob lived in Takoma Park, Maryland for a time while he was business manager of the Washington Sanitarium and Hospital (now Washington Adventist Hospital). Survivors: a twin brother Harry A. Bossert, and a daughter, Virginia Ruth Kennedy." (Courtesy of Jo Peck).
