Dawn Eloise Becwar Mundt was born in Salina, Saline County Kansas on March 10, 1956, to parents Leonard and DeLores (Witfoth) Becwar. Dawn passed through Heavens Gates on December 14, 2024, at the age of 68, following a 2 ? month residency at The Gardens in Crete, NE. As a young child, her family moved to Fairmont, NE where Dawn attended K-1. Moving to the family farm near Milligan, Dawn attended second grade at the rural District #6 school. The remainder of her education in grade school and high school was at Milligan Public School. Dawn graduated from Milligan High School in 1974 along with 15 other classmates.

Her school years were filled with sports and music. Volleyball, Track, Cheerleading, and many groups in Band and Chorus. Upon graduation, she worked in Lincoln, NE at Aunt Betty Bread, prior to attending Grand Island School of Business. She graduated with a Secretarial Degree in the Spring of 1976.

While attending GISB she met her future husband. Love was in the air in the Spring of 1976 and following a wonderful short courtship of seven months, she became engaged to Douglas D Mundt, formerly of Deshler, NE. The two were madly in love and time apart was difficult.

After Doug took a job in Scottsbluff, NE following his graduation from Business School they decided to get married leaving their parents an entire 5 weeks to plan the wedding. They were married on December 11, 1976, in Friend, NE at the Methodist Church and the reception was held in the Milligan Auditorium. After a short honeymoon to South Texas, they moved to Scottsbluff to build a life together. Thus began, the odyssey of "The Mundts are moving again". Twenty-one dwellings over 43 years were called home, prior to them taking their gypsy life on the road full time in a camper in July of 2019.

Jarod Doug Mundt blessed the couple arriving in October of 1980. Julie Mundt came along on January 1982. Two more wonderful, healthy children a mother could not ask for. Dawn was an amazing mother and grandmother. She did not need to preach axioms or discipline as her example in living life was enough to guide her children into becoming outstanding children, students, and citizens into adulthood. She hesitated to brag about them and their accomplishments, but she and her husband spent many pleasant hours discussing how proud they are of both children. Her two grandsons have been blessed with being able to be around Gramma Dawn enough in their lives to understand just how great a woman she was.

While having a multitude of talents, including a recent watercolor painting hobby, her main love for free time was music. Once retired she could devote many hours to this hobby and became proficient playing guitar and harmonica. She played numerous other instruments including button accordion, mandolin, saxophone and more. She learned singing harmonies by ear with her parents while driving long distances with her family as a child when they went on vacation. This talent of "hearing" the harmony line made her a popular singing partner wherever she went. It also led to the makings of "The Kramer Sisters" one night at an accordion jam at the Kramer Bar. Sue Prochaska and Janet Jefferies and Dawn found magic that night in singing songs in three-part harmony. The three sang together for many years and were very popular with what seemed at times to be a cult like following to their gigs.

After her husband retired Dawn and Doug formed "EnjoyMundt" and entertained at many of the same venues the Kramer Sisters did. The last year prior to going full time RVing, Dawn sang 153 gigs with Janet and 56 with Doug. Once hitting the road full time, Dawn and Doug took their show on the road, singing here, there and everywhere. Some of her favorite memories were singing on the outside stage at Luckenbach, TX, and busking on the main streets of Buffalo, Wy and Tombstone, AZ. She also had great memories of the Kramer Sisters singing at The Bohemian Caf? in Omaha and many years of performances at the NE State Fair.

Dawn was a compassionate, caring, sincere, congenial, talented woman who never met a stranger. It was always a joy to be around her. She enjoyed the five years of full time RVing as each day was a new experience and a chance to meet new friends.

After being diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer, Dawns positivity and attitude never wavered. She was a great example, to the end, of how to accept your fate, and many people marveled at her continued smile and attitude. She very much enjoyed her final move to The Gardens in Crete, where thanks to Sue and Janet, she had an opportunity to sing with them for 4 of the 5 Saturday morning music jams that were held in her honor.

Dawn is survived by her husband of 48 years, Doug; son, Jarod and wife Stacey of Fort Collins, CO; Julie Rohrs and husband Jared of Lincoln; Grandsons Reef Alan and Ayrton Douglas, Lincoln; Brother Mark Becwar, Lincoln, NE; Sister-in-Law, Amy McDowell Mundt of Littleton, CO and many cousins, nieces and nephews. An amazing number of friends from across the USA mourn her passing as well.

Dawn requested to be cremated, and her cremains will be interred at the Kramer Community Cemetery in a private family ceremony. Kuncl of Crete, NE handled the arrangements. A Celebration of Life and Music Extravaganza will be held in her honor on April 06, 2025, at 2:00 pm at The 1206, downtown Crete, NE. She will be missed, by all who had the pleasure and opportunity to meet her. Cards of sympathy may be sent to Doug Mundt 3916 N Potsdam Ave #387 Sioux Falls, SD 57104. Arrangements entrusted to Kuncl Funeral Home in Crete.
