      C. M. "Jack" Forse

      Charles M. "Jack" Forse, 68, of Farmington, New Mexico, died July 21, 1996 in Farmington.

      Forse was born Feb. 12, 1928 in Sabine County as the eldest son of the late Judge Charlie and Ollie M. Forse, longtime residents of Sabine County and the Plainview Community. He was a graduate of Pineland High School and received M.S. and B.A. degrees from Sam Houston State University. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a Korean War veteran.

      Forse, who had lived in the Farmington area for several years, was retired having served as a teacher, school administrator, businessman, and pipeline inspection engineer.

      Survivors: daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and David Barker of Thibodaux, Louisiana and Billie Joyce and Robert Beddingfield of Hockley, Texas; step-sons, Mike Liles and David Liles, both of Putnam, Texas; brothers, Forrest K. Forse and wife Shelba of Orange and W. Howard Forse of Abilene; sisters, Marilyn Allen and husband Ted of Katy and Alice Rhodes and husband Joe of Arlington; and seven grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Liles Forse.

      Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 2, 1996, at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Claude DeCelle officiating. Interment followed in Plainview Cemetery, Section II, near Pineland.

He served as principal or superintendent of schools in five different counties in Texas, a total of thirty-one years, and is again County Judge. (White and Toole, p 55).
