    • John F. Brasch, 91, passed into the presence of the Lord on Monday, January 18, 2010, at Wheaton Franciscan - All Saints Medical Center.

      He was born in Appleton on June 16, 1918, the son of the late John and Lena (nee: Ristow) Brasch. On February 9, 1946, he was united in marriage to Myra Lee McLemore in Hattiesburg, Miss. John proudly served in the United States Army from 1941 through 1945 in the Quartermaster Corps and was Honorably Discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retiring from Gold Metal Folding Furniture Company in 1979, John and Myra moved to Petal, Miss., where he began a second career with Mississippi Oil Smith Petroleum, where he had the privilege of working with many wonderful people and friends.

      John was a member Petal United Methodist Church and a member of Petal Masonic Lodge and Petal Order of the Eastern Star. John and Myra were active in many public groups and enjoyed being with people. John was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who always enjoyed being with his family. He was compassionate, unassuming, supportive, and encouraging to everyone and will be sadly missed by all.

      Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Myra; son, Dan (Laurie) Brasch, Racine; grandchildren, Jared Brasch, Racine, Nathaniel Brasch, Union Grove, and Janelle (Josh) Buisch, Dickson City, Pa.; and special friends, Robin Kinsey, Leroy Rider, and Mike Smith, Hattiesburg, Miss. John was also preceded in death by four brothers, Ted, Len, Ray, and Clarence. A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Polnasek-Daniels Funeral Home, Union Grove. Burial will be held at Roseland Park Cemetery, Hattiesburg, Miss. on Monday, January 25, 2010. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be given to Shepherds Ministries, 1805 - 15th Avenue, Union Grove, Wis. 53182- 1597, phone 262-878- 5620. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the compassionate care and kindness given by the staff of Oak Ridge Care Center and Wheaton Franciscan - All Saints Medical Center.
