      Leroy Bragg

      Leroy Bragg, 93, died Dec. 2, 2008. He was born on Aug. 29, 1915 to Bertha and Herman Bragg of Milam.

      He is survived by his daughter, Katherine Weaver and husband, Harry, and son Dawyne Bragg and wife Gail; four grandchildren, Michael Scruggs, Angela Thurman, Kimberly Tomasek, and Merritt Bragg; plus seven great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lee; parents, sister, Mary Jones; and five brothers, Robert, George, Wilburn, Herman Jr., and Eldon Bragg.

      Bragg worked for Dupont, Inc. in Victoria for 27 years and retired in 1978. After retirement, he returned to his childhood home of Milam. He was a member of the Masons for over 50 years and a member of the Hemphill Chapter of the Eastern Star. Bragg was an avid hunter and fisherman. He killed at least one deer every year of his from the age of 15 until he was 92. He loved the outdoors and gardening was his favorite hobby. His favorite time of year was when the vegetables were ready for cooking and canning.

      He was also a dedicated Christian and active member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Milam. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and a friend to many. He was a kind, helpful and generous man.

      Funeral services were held Dec. 4 at Starr Funeral Home. Interment followed at New Hope Cemetery in Milam.
