    • Vincent Janda Married

We are realiably informed that Mr. Vincent Janda was married last Saturday, June 5, to Miss May Paine of Bethany, Nebraska, at the home of the bride. Mr. Paine, father of the bride and an ordained minister, performed the wedding ceremony. Vincent will spend the summer at Peru, where he will take his Bachelor of Arts Degree and will then return to Fairfax, South Dakota, where he has been re-elected as superintendent for three years with a raise in salary each year according to the up-to-date wage. We join the many friends of Vincent in wishing him only happiness and progress.

Sharon Nemeth looked up their marriage license at the Nebraska State Historical Society. The witnesses were Joseph Janda (Sr.) and Mrs. C.F. Paine. May's parents were listed as John W. Paine and Carrie Hall, and Rousy Hranac was shown as Vicent's parent. Both Vincent and May were 26 years old.

A more detailed announcement of the marriage was in the 10 June 1920 issue of the Nebraska Signal. That article noted that only twenty-five relatives and very intimate friends attended. The brides sisters, Miss Lois Paine, Ellis played the violin and Miss Esther Paine the piano. After the wedding dinner, the newleyweds left on the afternoon train for Peru, Nebraska. They will be at home after September 1 in Fairfax, South Dakota. Mr. Janda was a graduate of Geneva High School and later attended Peru Normal, and Mrs. Janda attended Cotner University.

Dennis Belohlavy reports that they had one daughter, Joann.
