      Jean M. Low

      On September 14, 2008, Low's body gave up its decades long battle against Parkinson's disease.

      She was born Feb. 18, 1926 in Beaumont. She married Don M. Low on June 22, 1946 and graduated from the University of Texas in 1948 with a BBA. After rearing two sons, Thomas Kent Low and Paul Matthew, she began working for the Dallas Independent School district. In her early days she was a principal's secretary. When she retired, she was the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Middle Schools. During her tenure, she was also President of the Dallas Educational Secretaries's Association (DESA) and held various positions in TESA.

      She is survived by her son Paul ans his wife Karin and their daughters, Jennifer and Cassie, all of Montval, NJ; a sister Dorothy WADE and husband Bruce of Mt. Pleasant; nieces, Nancy SCHOBER of Dallas, Karen MILLER of Salt Lake City, UT, Linda LYNN of Kaufman, and Ruth Ann HOFFMAN of Duncanville.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Don M. Low and her son, Thomas Kent Low.

      Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at Starr Funeral Home Chapel in Hemphill with Pastor Gary Leinhart officiating. Interment will follow in Hapers Chapel Cemetery.
