- Virgie Speights, in a biography of Imboden Boyd written September, 1966, stated that he was a grandson of Joseph Boyd, and great grandson of John Boyd, who came from Nashville, Tennessee in 1835, to settle at Milam, to serve as a Senator in the Republic of Texas, as a sheriff of Sabine County, as well as holding other important positions in early Texas.
