Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Guy Adkison, 71, of Carthage, Texas will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Kings Cemetery in Milam, Texas under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Hawthorn's. Mr. Adkison died December 5, 2017 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Mr. Guy Freeman Adkison was born July 20, 1946 in Shelby County, Texas. He was one of eight children born to the marriage of Elvie and Brooksie Williams Adkison. He was raised and schooled in Hemphill and Shelby County. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era receiving a purple heart and bronze star.
Guy married Deborah Jeanne Perry September 6, 1968 and they celebrated 49 years of marriage and raised two loving daughters. Mr. Adkison worked as a maintenance manager for Tyson Foods for 33 years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, golf, gardening, college football, and old westerns. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Laverne Craig, Carolyn Woods, Kay Butler and James Adkison.
Mr. Adkison is survived by his loving wife, Debby Adkison of Carthage, daughters, Kimberly Adkison Richter and husband Phillip of Arp, and Kalisha Adkison Boyd and husband Jimmy of Tyler, sisters, Becky Smith of Pineland, Kathy Little of Hemphill, Linda Buckley of Houston, sister-in-law, Louise Adkison of Hemphill, grandchildren, Collin Boyd of Tyler and Kennedy Richter of Arp, numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and his Tyson Foods family.
