      Carmon Crocker Beard, 96, of Beaumont died Friday, March 6, 2009.

      Born Dec. 7, 1912, Mrs. Beard had been a longtime resident of the Sabine and San Augustine counties area. She had also lived in Beaumont several years and retired from the food service department of the Beaumont Independent School District and also worked in sales at the White House department store. She was a member of Brookeland Missionary Baptist Church, as well as Rosedale Baptist Church.

      Survivors include a host of nieces and nephews.

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Beard.

      Graveside rites were held Monday, March 9, at Liberty Hill Cemetery in San Augustine.

      Services were under the direction of Broussard's Mortuary, Beaumont. Online obituary and guestbook posted at their website.
