      On October 17, 2006, Kathleen T. Arnold, known as Kaye to her friends and family, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Lord and Saviour, with her family and friends at her bedside.

      Kaye was born May 22, 1919, to Sallie Henry Taylor and Everett Allen Taylor in Crestmont, NC. She graduated in 1939 from Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, NC, with a degree in teaching. After teaching elementary school for several years, Kaye traveled by train to Galveston to pursue a nursing degree.

      In 1944, Kaye entered the John Sealey School of Nursing at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. She graduated in 1946 as a Registered Nurse. While at UTMB, Kaye met the love of her life, Dr. William Thomas Arnold III, M.D. They were married on April 7, 1944, at the First Presbyterian Church in Galveston.

      Kaye's love for God, her family, as well as her church and community afforded her many opportunities to minister to other individuals. As a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Houston, Kaye was president of the Women of the Church from 1978-1979.....(as well as various other church activities)....one of the founding members of the Assistance League of Houston...volunteer for the American Cancer Society, and their education program, as a breast cancer survivor. Kaye was a loving and dedicated wife, as well as mother and grandmother.....

      Kaye was preceded in death by her parents, Sallie and Everett TAYLOR, and her brother, Col. John William TAYLOR, USAF. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Dr. William T. ARNOLD, III M.D., her sister, Ila T. JUSTICE, daughter, Jan A. PARKS, Son William T. ARNOLD, Jr., grandson, Christopher J. PARKS, and granddaughters, Kathleen V. PARKS and Sarah E. PARKS, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Private graveside services were held on Oct. 20 a 1 p.m. by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill with Dr. Jack Lancaster presiding over the service. The pallbearers for the service were Tom "Arnie" ARNOLD, Dr. Charlie ARNOLD, M.D., Rick ARNOLD, Dr. Tony ARNOLD, M.D., Forrest ARNOLD, and Robert "Bob" SPEARS.

      A memorial service for Kaye was held at 1 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Houston, with Rev. Asa HUNT presiding. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in honor of Kaye Arnold to the Women of the Church at the First Presbyterian Church of Houston, Houston Hospice, or a charity of choice.
