    Notes
    • Jewel Gallon writes that her grandfather "Oscar Fred (everyone called him Fred or O.F. no one ever dared call him Oscar) was born in Denton, Texas. He died in Clarendon, Texas on Christmas Day of 1991. He was a cowboy on the JA Ranch in the Panhandle from the time he was about 10 until he married Jewel Bush when he was 21. He published a book about his cowboy days at the time of the Texas Sesquicentennial. Quite an interesting life. After his cowboy days, he became a butcher and at one time owned three meat markets; one in Clarendon, one in McLean and one in Shamrock TX. He was well known in the panhandle area. Fred was married three times and out-lived all three wives. Fred & his first two wives are buried in the Settlers cemetery in Clarendon. "
