    • Virgie Speights writes that she was brough up in Milam where she went to school. Her parents were in the Mercantile business in Milam, where her only brother surviving [as of 1963] still lived. She married Lee P. GANDY in 1895, and moved to East Pendeleton, where their two children, Lula Marie and Pedras Perry Gandy were born. Lula died at age 5. The Gandy's moved to Runnels County, Texas, where they lived until forced to come home because of the drought in 1912. (Speights, Old Timers of Sabine County, Texas, p. 35).
