      Ruby Ray Burkett, 92, of Beaumont passed away on Monday January 27, 2014 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. She was born in Bon Wier, Texas on January 7, 1922 to her parents George Peavy Boyett and Imelda Daughtery Boyett who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her husband Alricks Henry Burkett and two brothers. She had a list of hobbies which were sewing, singing and working in her yard. Her greatest passion was a huge involvement in Genealogical Research. She lived in Bon Wier and the Newton County area for over twenty years and later was a lifelong resident of Beaumont. She was a dedicated member of The Anchor of Beaumont. Surviving Mrs. Burkett are her son David Burkett and his wife Betty Ann of Beaumont, daughters, Juana Bernath of Lyles, Tennessee, and Margaret Greer and her husband Paul of Springhill, Tennessee, sister, Minnie Merle Ashworth of Silsbee, five grandchildren; Sandra Harrington,Dana Zoch, Patti Harrington, Ashton Burkett, and Blake Burkett, three great grandchildren; Cameron Zoch, Noelle Zoch, and Everleigh Burkett.
      Visitation will be on Wednesday January 29, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 30, 2014 at 10:00 A.M. at the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. Officiating will be Pastor Johnathan Green and Dee Phillips.
