Notes |
- Although his last name is listed on DUNN on both the 1850 and 1860 census, Durr appears to be correct. Casagranda, in her transcription of the Sabine Parish, Louisiana 1850 census, notes that DIRR is also used, but that DURR seems to be the most used and correct spelling of the name. She further notes the family is listed through the 1880 census records of Sabine Parish, but few cemetery or marriage records are present under any variant spelling......(Other DURR family members) can be found in Natchitoches, Rapides, and Caddo Parishes. (Casagranda, 1850 Census, 35).
Casagranda suspects he was a son of Michael DURR and Elizabeth PINCHARD. However, Susan Laurent, who maintains a website Durr Families Of North Louisiana www.doubledurr.com which is the compilation of all the research the descendants of Michael & David Durr have done thru the years, says this is incorrect. She also notes that David's wife was Paralee ALLRED.
