    • On Sept 15, 1817, John Jones Bowie and wife Nancy Scoggins Bowie (whom he married in 1806, the dtr of Jonas Scoggins) bought cattle, a saddle, and bridle at the Succession sale of Jonas Scoggins. The record states that John J. Bowie was bro-in-law of John Scoggins, son of Jonas. In Dec, 1817, John and Nancy moved to Harrisonburg according to Catahoula Parish records. (White and Toole, p 43).

    • Additionally, some Harvey children (Amanda b. 1823, Charles Clavin b. 10 Feb 1825, John Austin b. 26 Jan 1827)moved to the Ayish in San Augustine county in 1834 with Jefferson Haggerty and wife Malinda Bowie Haggerty. Jefferson Haggerty was Chief Justice (County Judge) of San Augustine County (1840), but was killed soon after in an ambush resulting from the Shelby County Feud. Malinda Bowie Haggerty was said to have been a niece of James Bowie of Alamo fame. "It is a known fact by descendants still living that she was a half-sister of the three Harvey children whom she brought to Texas and reared." (White and Toole, p 43).
