      Madie O. Roberts

      Madie O. Roberts, 85, of Brookeland died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Avalon Place in Kirbyville. Mrs. Roberts was a native and longtime resident of Brookeland. She formerly owned and operated M&M Grocery. Survivors: sons, William Roberts and Gene Roberts, both of Jasper; daughters Letta Tate of Jasper and Mollie Donahoe and Bulah Donahoe, both of Brookeland; brothers, Wilburn Powell of Bronson, Hollis Powell of Pineland, and Harvey Powell of Livingston; a sister, Viola Ellis of Brookeland; and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Roberts. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Stringer & Griffine Funeral Home chapel in Jasper. Interment followed at Brookeland Cemetery in Sabine County.
