R. J. "Bob" Powell, 87, of Burkeville died Wednesday, July 5, 1995, at the Mary E. Dickerson Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Powell was a native of Sabine County and a longtime resident of the Burkeville area. he was a farmer/rancher and had retired as an ironworker with Local #125 in Beaumont.
Survivors: wife, Mildred Powell of Burkeville; a son, J. E. Powell of Mauriceville; three daughters, Bobbie Tilley of Jasper, and Frances Jarrell and Linda Sue Hobbs, both of Burkeville; a brother, Alvin "Shorty" Powell of Brookeland; sisters, Evalene Meyers of Beaumont, Vina Arbuckle of Elgin; half-sisters, Judy Jacobs of Tyler and Marie of Pineland; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday at the Spears Chapel Congregational Methodist Church near Burkeville. Services were handled by Stringer & Griffin. Funeral Home-Burkeville Chapel.
