    • Rose Marie "Sis" Vincent White, 82, a lifelong resident of Lake Charles, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, surrounded by family and close friends.

      "Sis," founder of The Boarding House Catering and former co-owner of H White Construction County, was well-known for coordinating fundraisers for local parochial schools and other charity work throughout the community.

      She was a founding member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church and was later a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Lake Charles. She w as also a member of Catholic Daughters of America, the Ladies Altar Society, National Association of Women in Construction, Louisiana Restaurant Association, National Federation of Independent Businesses, and Women Business Owners Association, and was inducted into the Companions of Honor by the Diocese of Lake Charles.

      Mrs. White was a 1942 graduate of St. Charles Academy and graduated from Vincent's Business College before marrying John Homer White, with whom she had eight children and one foster daughter.

      Survivors include her brother, Martin Van Vincent; her children, James M. "Jimmy" White, Patricia Jo "Trish" White, Rose Katherine "Rosie" Tower and husband Wendell "Dub" Tower, Veronica "Pookie" White, Molly Jackson and husband Joe Jackson, Nanette White, and Cora Lynn Caldwell; son-in- law Nicola "Nick" Vartuli; daughter-in-law Vivia Cormier White; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and numerous friends whom she loved unconditionally.

      "Sis" was preceded in death by her parents, Rose Felicia Vincent and Amos Joseph Vincent; a brother, Monsignor Amos J. "A.J." Vincent; her beloved husband, J. Homer White; one daughter, Marie Lorene "Butch" Vartuli; one son, John H. "Johnny" White Jr.; a son in-law, Randy Caldwell; and two great-grandchildren, Alex and Emma.

      'Sis" White was well known for her kindness and generosity toward those in need of food, shelter and love over the years. She will long be remembered for her good deeds and hospitality.

      A funeral Mass will be at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 3. The Rev. Wayne LeBleu, Monsignor James Gaddy, Monsignor Harry Greig, Monsignor Jace Eskind, Monsignor Charles Dubo is and the Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will co-celebrate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be in Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. followed by a Scripture service. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8- 10:45 a.m. in the funeral home.
