Owen Darling succumbs at home
Owen W. Darling, 78, a Snover resident most of his life, died Sunday, February 16, in his home after a brief illness.
He was born December 15, 1890, in Upper Michigan and married Martha Mark April 19, 1916 in Caro.
They farmed in Lamotte township.
Survivors are his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Carl GEISTER of Decker and Mrs. Clark CRYDERMAN of Drayton Plains; six sons, Mark of Pontiac, James of Snover, Donald of Kingston, Robert and Frederick, both of Marlette, and Gerald of Lake Orion; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Russell Campbell of Imlay City.
Funeral services were held at the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette, Wednesday with Rev. Stephen Chapko, pastor of the Decker United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial was in Elkland cemetery.

- The 1941 issue of the Striffler-Benkelman Broadcast showed that Mr. and Mrs. Owen Darling of Brown City observed their 25th anniversary Apr. 19, 1941. The STRIFFLER-BENKELMAN BROADCAST, Volume 26, September 5, 1966, reported that they were honored at a reception at the home of their son Jim in celebration of their Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary. Their eight children and families planned the celebration.
