  Notes	Tom attended mainly parochial schools through the 8th grade. He loved baseball, and was the catcher on his little league team. He was also in the Cub Scouts. Tom's family moved between Oklahoma, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas while his father taught at various Universities in the process of completing his Ph. D. from the University of Alabama. Tom graduated from Edinburg High School (Texas) in 1976. While in school, he was active in drama and debate, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Edinburg High School had a color television lab, and Tom worked and studied here under his favorite teachers, Pat and Jonah Gray. He fell in love with television, and knew this is what he wanted to do as a career. He attended Pan American University in Edinburg for one year. While there he made a nuisance of himself begging for a job, any job, at KGBT-TV in Harlingen, Texas. His persistence paid off when he was finally offered a minimum wage job as a night shift VTR operator in July 1977. He snapped it up, and dropped out of college. He was soon promoted to technical director, and in 1978 was offered the opportunity to be one of a three person crew for a remote production facility in San Antonio: TMS (Tichenor Media System) Production. He soon became their primary editor and post-production supervisor. He worked there until the Tichenor's closed TMS to concentrate their resources in the Spanish Language radio market. In 1987, Tom went to work for a former competitor, Ashe Bowie/Match Frame. He was named Senior Editor in 1995. He worked on numerous award winning commercials for companies as diverse as the San Antonio Spurs Basketball Team, Coca-Cola (Hispanic), Valero and various Republican political advertisement Tom was involved in Cub Scout Pack 248 from 1992-1997, serving as Assistant Den Leader, Den Leader, and Cub Master. He also coached or helped coach his son Michael in Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball. The Strong's bought their first home in San Antonio, Texas in July 1984. Their address was 131 Chevy Chase 78209. In November, 1999, they moved 13 blocks north, to 311 Northridge Drive 78209. Tom is a Citizen of the Chickasaw Nation. (Certificate dated August 11, 1998 signed by Bill Anoatubby, Governor).
