  Married: Robert McLemore Butler thinks it possible that the mother of Lofton's four youngest children was actually Emily ROYAL, and that "we suspect that after Lofton's death, or their divorce, (his first wife) Elizabeth BULLARD remarried and her new husband was named SPELL" The 1900 census indicates that Lofton and his current wife had been married 23 years, and that she was the mother of four children, all living.
