    Wilbern B. Powell, 80, of Bronson died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at a Jasper Hospital.

    Powell was born March 14, 1924, and had been a longtime Bronson area resident. He was retired from the Texas Department of Transportation. Survivors: Wife, Margie Powell of Bronson; two sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert and Linda Powell of Krum and Bobby and Peggy Powell of Channelview; two brothers, Hollis Powell of Pineland and Harvey Powell of Livingston; a sister, Viola ELLIS of Brookeland; three grandchildren Patti WATSON and husband Eric of Highland Village, Chad Powell of Krum, and Rae Ann FOWLER and husband Joe of Houston; and four great-grandchildren, Madeline WATSON, Benjamin WATSON, Ty FOWLER and Peyton FOWLER. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home chapel in Jasper with Bro. H.T. Davison officiating.

    Notes:

    Funeral services for Margie Rae Powell, 84 of Bronson, Texas will be 2:00pm Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home.

    Margie passed away at her home in Bronson, Texas on October 16, 2012. She was a former resident of Brookeland, Texas, and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. She loved to cook, read, do word puzzles and most of all spend time with family and friends.

    She is survived by her children, Herbert Powell and wife Linda of Yantis, Texas and Bobby Powell and wife Peggy of Channelview, Texas; brothers, Travis Ellis Jr. of Brookeland, Charlie Ellis of Jasper, and Sam Ellis of Brookeland; sisters, Laverne Powell of Brookeland, Annie Roebuck of Brookeland, Norma Sisney of New Caney, Texas and Wanda Singleton also of New Caney, Texas; grandchildren, Rae Ann, Patti, and Chad; great grandchildren, Ty, Peyton, Madeline, and Ben.

    Margie was preceded in death by her parents Travis and Ora Ellis; husband Wilbern Powell; brothers Donald & Cecil Ellis and sister Ruby Scarbrough.

    The family would like to send a special thanks to Hospice in the Pines of Lufkin, Texas.

    Barbara Ann Dickerson, 80, of Bronson, Texas passed away Friday, August 24, 2018 at her residence.

    Barbara was born February 7, 1938 in Bronson, Texas to Eugene McGown and Essie Mae Horton McGown. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

    Barbara was a lifetime resident of Bronson. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bronson and also a member of the Red Hat Ladies. Barbara worked in nursing homes as a CNA for many years. She enjoyed embroidering and gardening in her spare time.

    Barbara is survived by her husband of 65 years, Doyle Dickerson of Bronson; daughters, Peggy Sue Powell and husband, Bobby, of Bronson and Carla Yvette Powell and husband, Jamie, of Pineland, Texas; granddaughter, Rae Ann Fowler and husband, Joe, of Crosby, Texas and two great grandchildren, Ty Fowler and Peyton Fowler.

    She was preceded in death by her parents and by her two sisters, Mozelle Burkett and Faye Gray.

    Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2018 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Bobby Powell and Bro. Jerry Gilbert officiating.

    Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time Monday.

    Burial will follow services in Centerview Cemetery on Centerview Rd in Bronson, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
