"Allen Chamber's father was Henry (d 1842, the son of Wm Chambers, Amer Rev Veteran who rec'd a land grant in Warren Co, Ga. He d ca 1832, in Wilkinson Co Ga, leaving his widow Martha* who was on the 1850 census. The Allen Chambers family came to Sabine County in 1860, where he died Feb 5, 1884. His wife died Apr 29, 1878. Virgie Speights wrote that the Chambers came from Georgia in the middle 1800's and settled on Chambers Hill, north of Milam, where they built a log cabin, in which they lived until they moved a mile or so further north, and built another cabin. Eventually they built a new huge, handhewn, square logged house, which was still standing when she wrote of it in the mid 1960's, and was owned by Elzie Chambers, who used the original home as a corn crib.
