    Miss Ruede is Bride of Donald Schenck

    A wedding of interest to many Cass City people was that of Miss Genevieve Ruede, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B.J. Ruede, of Jackson, and Donald Paul Schenck, son of Mrs. Clayton Schenck, of Cass City, performed at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, in St. Mary's rectory in Jackson by Rev. Fr. Higgins.

    The bride was lovely in a street length gown of heaven blue Chantilly lace over taffeta with a pink felt picture hat and blue sandals. She wore a shoulder corsage of pink rosebuds.

    Miss Ruth Schenck of Cass City, sister of the groom, who was Miss Ruede's maid of honor, wore a street length dress of London tan crepe with bolero jacket and brown accessories. Her shoulder bouquet was yellow rosebuds and blue forget-me-nots.

    Robert Ruede, brother of the bride, attended Mr. Schenck as best man.

    Immediately following the wedding, a dinner was served to twenty-four relatives in the home on the bride's parents. In the evening, a reception was held for friends and relatives in the Ruede home.

    Guests were present from Denver, Colorado; Detroit, Cass City and Jackson.

    The groom graduated from Cass City High School in 1932 and is a graduate of Ferris Institute, Big Rapids. He is now employed as a registered pharmacist in the Walgreen Drug Store in Jackson.

    Mrs. Schenck is a graduate from St. Mary's High School, Jackson, graduating with the Class of 1933. She also took a business course at Jackson Business College.

    Mrs. And Mrs. Schenck will make their home at 1124 First Street, Jackson.

    Those who attended from Cass City were Mrs. Clayton Schenck, daughter Miss Ruth, and Leonard Striffler.

    Appendicitis Causes Death of Clayton A. Schenck

    Was Ill But Two Weeks; Funeral Friday Afternoon at Evangelical Church

    Clayton A. Schenck passed away Wednesday morning following an operation for appendicitis which he underwent at Pleasant Home hospital Monday evening. He had been ill about two weeks.

    Clayton Arthur Schenck was born on the Schenck farm two miles northwest of Cass City on May 30, 1891. He attended the public school here until he completed the tenth grade and then devoted his attention to farming, assisting his father, Travis Schenck, on the latter's farm.

    On April 29, 1913, he was united in marriage with Miss Alma Striffler and to this union two children were born.

    Mr. Schenck has been a member of the Evangelical church since 1914 and was very active and faithful in the various church organizations and services. He was also an efficient member of the Cass City Band. He was a young man of strong character and clean habits. It is hard to give up one whose influence among men has been for good and who by precept and example was so well calculated to spread abroad the influence of godly living. The community extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.

    Besides his wife and two small children, Donald, age 5 years, and Ruth, 2 yrs, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Travis Schenck, two brothers, Stanley Schenck of Chisholm, Minn., and Verne Schenck of Detroit and one sister, Mrs. John McGrath, jr., of Cass City.

    Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical church this (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. A.H. Butzbach officiating.

    Services held for Lifelong Resident

    Funeral services for Mrs. Alma McKenzie, 72, lifelong resident, were held Wednesday afternoon at Little's Funeral Home following her death Monday, Jan. 24, at the Sunny Acres Nursing Center in Elkton where she had been a patient for one month. She had been in ill health for the past six months.

    Born March 11, 1893, in Cass City, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Solomon Striffler. She married Clayton Schenck in Cass City in 1913 and they made their home here until he died in 1919. In 1939 she married William McKenzie. He died in 1962.

    Mrs. McKenzie was a Cass City postal clerk for 16 years and was a lifetime member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church.

    Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Ruth( Esau of Cass City; a son, Donald Schenck of Napoleon; a sister, Mrs. Harry Falkenhagen, Bradenton, Fla., and two brothers, Leonard Striffler of Cass City and Louis Striffler of Detroit.

    Also surviving are: a stepdaugher, Mrs. Albert (Marie) Jones of Decker; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. A brother and sister preceded her in death.

    Rev. Stanley P. Kirn, retired EUB minister, officiated and interment was in the family lot in Elkland Cemetery.
