Margaret Omega Davison Rush

Margaret Omega Davison Rush, 74, of Hemphill, died Saturday Aug. 16, 2008. She was born October 18, 1933 in Newton County and was a longtime resident of Hemphill. Before retirement, Ms. Rush owned and operated various restaurants and diners in the Sabine County area. She was a member of East Mayfield Baptist Church in Hemphill.

Survivors: five daughters, Gwen Coplen, Sally Butler, Bonnie Conn, Margaret Quick, and Billie Gilcrease; sons-in-law, Edd Coplen, Ronny Butler, Steve Conn, and Jerry Gilcrease; grandchildren: Chad Conn, Ronda Butler Harkey, Wesley Conn, Leslie Butler Todd, Clint Conn, Kari Gilcrease Hoelscher, James Coplen, Jared Gilcrease, Meagan Butler, Macie Quick, and Jamie Quick; great-grandchildren, Kiersten Conn, Bo Conn, Sawyer Conn, Trinity Conn, Raelee Conn, Rhett Harkey and Reid Todd.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 18 at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home.

Services were under the direction of Starr Funeral Home, Hemphill.

In her annotated trascription of the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary indicates he had a military marker "Texas Pvt Medical Department WW I", and that he had a double headstone with Mae Butler. FindAGrave notes that he died from a gun shot wound to the head from suicide, and cites his death certificate.

In her annotated trascription of the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Kay Parker McCary indicates that Naomi "Mae" shared a double marker with Thomas C. Butler, and that she was the daughter of John C. Crocker and Julia Ann Harvey. From census records, it appears her name was actually Mayona/Maeona/May Onie. Her death certificate simply lists her as Mae.
