    Paul Gene Ford of Bronson escaped serious injury when the Gulf Stag, of which he was the quartermaster of, caught fire in the Gulf of Mexico.

    Paul Gene Ford

    Paul Gene Ford, 63, of Bronson died at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 1997, at his residence.

    Ford, born Oct. 8, 1933 in Geneva as a son of the late Roy and Nina B . Ford, was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and member of the First Baptist Church, Bronson. He was a retired seaman and Merchant Marine veteran.

    Survivors: wife, Shirley Hussey Ford of Bronson; sons, Lacy Lee Ford of Lufkin, and Tony Gene Ford, Paul Wyndell Ford, and Johnny James Ford of Bronson; a sister, Linda McBride of Bronson; and nine grandchildren, Marlon Ford, Tonya Ford, Tammy Ford, Kimberly Ford, Tony Ford, Chrissi Ford, Craig Ford, Jessica Ford, and Christopher Ford.

    Funeral services were held May 5 at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Wesley L. Pate and Bobby Jim Horton officiating. Interment followed in Rosevine Cemetery in Rosevine.

The obituary of her grandson, Timothy Allen Wilson, shows her as his surviving "grandmother, Evelyn S. Bragg of Milam"

    An article about her 101rst birthday celebration, in The Sabine County Reporter, 23 November 2022, page 2, notes she was born and raised on a farm near Many, Louisiana. After marrying her husband George Yudell Bragg in 1939, she moved to Sabine County, Texas, where she has lived all of her adult life. Even at 101, she was said to be still active in going to church and canning jellies of all kinds. Her other favorite pass time is quilting.

    The paper tried to get a count of how large her family was, but after a couple of attempts she just said "there's a bunch of us and it keeps growing."

    Evelyn attributed her long life to "(living) ...a good life, no cussing, drinking or smoking."

    Cecil C. Lindsey

    Funeral services for Cecil C. Lindsey, 89, of Pineland were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2006 at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery in Hemphill. Rev. Don Faulk and Rev. Vance Purtell officiated. He died Tuesday, October 3, 2006 at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.

    Cecil C. Lindsey was born in Pineland on June 12, 1917 to John C. and Kittie Lee Lindsey. He was a lifelong resident of Pineland. He retired from Temple Inland with 47 years of service. He was a retired member of the Pineland Volunteer Fire Dept. with 31 years service. Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nina Easley Lindsey. He is survived by three sons, Charles Lindsey and wife, Martha of San Augustine; Coleman Easley and wife, Kathy of Broson; and Claude Lindsey of Pineland; one daugher, Carolyn Lindsey BENNETT and husband, Cotton of Jasper, 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great great granchild; brother , Emory Lindsey of Pasadena; one sister, Betty Jo TAYLOR of Vidor, and sister-in-law, Fay HOUSE of Hemphill.

    Nina Easley Lindsey

    Funeral services for Nina Easley Lindsey, 85, of Pineland were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 23, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Pineland. Burial followed at Springhill Cemetery. Bro. Gordon KNIGHT and Bro. Vance PURTELL officiated. She died July 21 at Hemphill Care Center in Hemphill.

    Nina Easley Lindsey was born in Hemphill on December 12 (sic), 1920 to Coleman Easley and Mattie BECOM. She was a homemaker and a babysitter and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pineland.

    She is survived by her sons, Coleman Lindsey and wife, Kathy and Claude Lindsey and wife Martha, all of San Augustine; daughter, Carolyn BENNETT and husband, Cotton of Japser; sister Faye HOUSE of Hemphill; 15 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

    Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill was in charge of arrangements.
