    Voy McNaughten

    Funeral services for Voy Price McNaughten, 76, of Hemphill were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the chapel of Starr Funeral Home Inc. in Hemphill with Bro. Charles R. Stephens officiating. Interment followed at Fairmount Cemetery in Fairmount.

    He died 4:30 pm. Tuesday, Nov. 8, 1994, at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin.

    Born June 13, 1918, in Milam as a son of the late Price and Inez (Thompson) McNaughten, he had formerly lived in Lufkin before returning to Sabine County eight years ago. He retired in 1984 as an electrician for Brown 7 Root Construction. McNaughten was a member of Rosevine United Pentecostal Church and a U.S. Army veteran.

    Survivors: wife, Hazel (Bragg) McNaughen of Hemphill; daughters, Cheryl Valka of Buna, and Paula Tucker and Renne McNaughten, both of Lufkin; stepdaughters, Vickie Brucia of Hemphill and Lavina Gibson of Rosevine; a brother, Thomas Jett of Albuquerque, New Mexico; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

    Notes:

    In 1920, 2 year old Dollie Brown had been found in the home of Jessie and Pearl Brown of Angelina County, Texas. Dollie was the youngest of four children in the home, her siblings were Vera, Jay B., and Bessie. The family was still in Angelina County in 1930, with three additional children having been born, Nellie/Mellie, Henry and Jim Bob. In 1940 Dollie and the three youngest children were still living in Angelina County with their parents. Dollie, age 21, was widowed, being listed as Dollie E. Alexander, and the mother of 1 year old Clint Alexander.
