1918 - 1978 (60 years)
Generation: 1
1. | Patrick Joseph Kelliher was born on 12 Jul 1918 in Lawrence, Essex County, Massachusetts (son of John A. Kelliher and Dora Ethyl Kuykendall); died on 9 Oct 1978 in Long Beach, Los Angeles County, California. Notes:
PATRICK KELLIHER 12 Jul 1918 Oct 1978 (not specified) 90815 (Long Beach, Los Angeles, CA) 520-05-2933 Wyoming
Keith McGuire shows him as a "Foreman, Water Department."
In September, 2014 Craig Kelliher emailed: "John A Kelleher married Abbie E Sullivan, probably in Massachusetts prior to 1918, when first son, Patrick Joseph, (my Grandpa Joe) was born. Both John and Abbie emigrated from County Cork, Ireland. John was one of ten surviving children of Patrick Kelleher and Mary Lyons of Beenalaght, Co. Cork. John and second wife, Ethel, are buried next to one another in All Souls cemetary on Cherry St. in Long Beach, CA. This corroborates that Patrick Joseph, Bill and Jim were stepchildren of Ethyl. Uncles Bill and Jim were USC graduates and "confirmed bachelors" who ran real estate and escrow business in LA area. Grandpa Joe worked oil fields in WY then worked for the City of Signal Hill in Long Beach, CA. Joe's 98 y.o. widow and youngest son survive today."

Generation: 2

At the time of the 1930 census, he was living alone in Warren, Wyoming. His youngest son was in Massachusetts with relatives, and his two older sons were not located in the census index. He was shown as age 48, widowed, born in the Irish Free State (as were both parents), emigrating to the US in 1902, and employed as an Oil Worker in the Oil Fields.
This is POSSIBLY him on the SSDI, based on his age and last residence:

6. | George G. Kuykendall was born on 2 Apr 1863 in White County, Illinois (son of Franklin Kuykendall and Mary Jane Elliott); died on 27 Aug 1944 in Buxton, Wilson County, Kansas; was buried in Mt. Pleasant, Buxton, Wilson County, Kansas. Notes:
At the time of the 1900 census, he and Alice were living in Olivet, Kansas, with children Ethel, Hazel, Vernon, Lola and Olive. They had moved to Crawford Township, Kansas, prior to the 1910 census. The older children were all still at home, along with the younger Alice, Maude, George and Charles.
In 1920, they were in Wyoming. George was listed as a Laborer, General Farm. Seven of their twelve children were still at home: Vernon (23), Stella (17), Zelma (14), George (11), Charles (9), Loren (6), and Fern (4). Their eldest daughter, Ethel, was living next door.
In 1930, he was not listed in their home in Wilson County, Kansas. Orinda was shown as the head of household. |
7. | Orinda Alice Cowdrey was born in Jan 1872 in Kansas; died after 1930. Notes:
The 1885 Kansas State Census, for Olivet, Osage County, Kansas, shows that Loren C. and B A E?? Cowdrey were the heads of a household of eight people in total, which included a 12 year old daughter with the initials of O A Cowdrey. Loren was a farmer, and was born in Ohio with his wife being born in Indiana. This is likely Alice's family. A marriage record shows that Loren G. COWDRY married Barbary E FRIEND in Mar 1861 in Clinton County, Indiana. Also, Loren's widow, Barbary A E Cowdrey filed for a Civil War Pension in Missouri, based on the service of her husband for the 86 Indiana Infantry. The Widow's pension number was 915267, certificate number 680310, State Filed, Missouri. It appears that Loren has earlier filed for an Invalid Pension, application number 59361, certificate number 46137.
Notes:
Married:
On the 1900 Census, Alice was shown as the mother of 5 children, all living. By 1910, the number had risen to 10 total children, nine still living. All nine were living at home.

Generation: 4
12. | Franklin Kuykendall was born on 17 Oct 1834 in White County, Illinois (son of Noah Kuykendall and Elizabeth "Betsy" Jones); died on 16 Aug 1905 in Osage City, Osage County, Kansas; was buried in Alpine Cemetery, Olivet, Osage County, Kansas. Notes:
In the HISTORY OF THE KUYKENDALL FAMILY book, Lee Kuykendall is quoted as saying: "My father's father, my grandfather's name was FRANKLIN KUYKENDALL; his wife's name was MARY JANE ELLIOTT....FRANKLIN KUYKENDALL, my father was born October 17, 1834."
Lee Kuykendall apparently was misquoted, as he was the son of Franklin and Mary Jane (Elliott) Kuykendall, not grandson..
In another section of the HISTORY OF THE KUYKENDALL FAMILY, both E.G. Kuykendall of Carmi, Illinois (p 240) and John Kuykendall (p 241) list Franklin as the son of NOAH KUYKENDALL.
At the time of the 1850 White County, Illinois census, Franklin had been orphaned and was living with his older brother, Alfred. In 1860, he was married and living with his wife and children, and 67 year old Lucinda Bradshaw from Kentucky. They were living next door to another Bradshaw family.

The relationship of Lucinda Bradshaw to Franklin and Mary Jane is not known. Note at the time of the 1840 census that Lucinda was living in between Benj. Elliott and John Elliott. Perhaps the three of them were siblings?
