    Harrison Vickers, Jr., b Ga. ca 1812, moved to Fla. in 1817 when his father, Harrison Sr. bought land in the township of Tallahasse, Leon County. In 1834, Harrison Vickers Jr arrived in Texas. In 1837, he m. Sarah Ann Mason, (b) in Ala. (the dtr. of James and Elizabeth Mason). Harrision Vickers Jr., referred to as Harris Vickers on his headright papers, rec'd his land from the Sabine County Land Board in 1838, at Milam, Texas. He was a member of the Sexton Masonic Lodge at Sexton, and after it was moved to Milam. He was a farmer and the family home was near the Old Vickers Cemetery in the Isla Community. His descendants still live on the land. (White and Toole, p 38).

    His tombstone is inscribed "Came to Texas From Georgia 1833"

    Said to be a son of David MASON, Rev. Soldier, and Isabella TEAGUE of South Carolina. David was said to have died on September 11, 1829 in Laurens County, SC. James, John and William, their sons, were all three early pioneers of Sabine County. The brothers (were born in South Carolina and) went to Alabama where they lived for ten years before coming to Coahuila-Texas. (White and Toole, p 40).

    James Mason received his headright from the Mexican Government. It was located in the Isla Community, and many of his descendants still live there. (White and Toole, p 40).
