  1. 12.  Joseph M. SoukupJoseph M. Soukup was born on 6 May 1879 in Morse Bluff, Saunders County, Nebraska (son of Frantisek "Frank" M. Soukup and Anna Beznoska); died on 27 Aug 1960 in Swanton, Saline County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.

    Notes:

Joseph and Anna (Svec) Soukup "lived on a farm west of Milligan, which they rented for 38 years, then moved to a farm near Swanton. In November 1929, they purchased a farm near Western, which was farmed by their twin sons, Frank J. and James J."

However, Caroline Mastny noted that he homesteaded in Oklahoma, but didn't like it, so he returned to Nebraska, leaving his wife and sons behind for a brief time so they could keep the land. He later sold his land to Louis Beznoska in Walter, Oklahoma.

On the 1910 Cherokee County Oklahoma Federal Census, a Joseph Soukup was listed as a boarder in the home of James Thompson. He is shown as age 33 (born circa 1877), born in Bohemia, and with an occupation of Tailor. (Courtesy of Charles Strong). This may be the same Joseph Soukup...possibly he supported himself as a tailor while waiting to receive the title on his land.

Joseph married Anna Svec on 20 Jan 1903 in Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska. Anna (daughter of Vaclav "James" Svec and Marie "Mary" Suda) was born on 21 Aug 1883 in Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska; died on 1 Apr 1956 in Crete, Saline County, Nebraska; was buried in Bohemian National Cemetery (Milligan South), Milligan, Fillmore County, Nebraska.
