Researcher Ralph Burns of Mississippi posted a note to her record on 1880 San Augustine County, Texas census, indicated her maiden name was BURNS. This matches the Texas Death certificate information for her children James, Pinkie, Lou, Della, and Eula.
In 1910, and again in 1930, she was enumerated with her daughter Della, and son-in-law, Emmett Cordray.
The following was inscribed on her tombstone: "Remember youth as you pass by, As you are now so once was I, As I am now so you will be, Prepare for death and follow me."

Jane Mark Mitchell provided a copy of the following obituary:
MRS. MARY JANE MARKS
Esteemed Lady Passed Away October 11
Mrs. Mary Jane Marks, a well known and highly respected resident of this vicinity, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Masters, at Silverwood, on Tuesday, October 11, after a long illness.
The funeral service was conducted in Cass City M.E. church on Thursday by Rev. W. B. Weaver, where a large concourse of friends and relatives gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to the deceased.
Mary Jane Burns was born in Canada, May 4, 1838, and on December 21, 1859, was united in marriage to Albert Karr, and in 1867 they came to Michigan, settling in the vicinity to Karr's Corners. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in youth. Those remaining are Mrs. Henry Masters of Silverwood; Mrs. George Karr of Karr's Corners; Arthur Karr of Caro; and Charles Karr of Saginaw. Mr. Karr died in April, 1882. In 1888 Mrs. Karr was married to Walter Marks.
Mrs. Marks was converted in youth, living a consistant useful Christian life, winning friends wherever she went by her charming personality. She was among the first to unite with the Bethel class of which she was a member at the time of her demise.
Her last illness was a period of intense suffering continuing over many months during which she maintained a cheerful demeanor, never murmuring but always saying the Lord is good.
It was from the Vol. 5, No. 26, Friday, October 21, 1910 issues of the Cass City Chronicle.

I have also a lead on the death of her father James M Burroughs in Galveston Tx that I am awaiting on documentation for as well I have located a mention of his probated estate in the Galveston Paper in that time frame. I have sent to Galveston for this but have not received a reply yet. The Galveston Daily News Sunday February 4, 1900 Page 8 or 9 Some of the principal estates in the city, according to the inventories filed in the probate court, were valued as follows:

This has to be James M. Burroughs, son of Raymond and Elizabeth and father of Eliza, because the other James M. Burroughs, son of Dr. John Jones was not deceased by 1900.
Dr. John Jones Burroughs was James M Burroughs brother, he also had a son named James M Burroughs, who was very heavily involved in the Military. He was an Adjutant (Military lawyer) The article goes on to tell histories of the first set of names and there donations, however J M Burroughs is not among them. James M Burroughs was listed on the 1891 (and other) Galveston City Directories as well. So we know he died bet 1895 and February 1900

MARLOW ? Billie Stinson Burrow Payne, 89, of Marlow died Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, in Marlow. Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Charles Ryser and John DeYong officiating. Burial will follow in Marlow Cemetery.
Mrs. Payne was born June 4, 1913, in Chickasha to Homer T. and Audie Gann Burrow. The name Stinson was also the name of the physician who delivered Billie. Her mother, Audie, died in 1915 giving birth to her sister, also named Audie. Her father and his parents, the Burrows, raised her and her infant sister from the time she was 2 years old.
She first attended school in Purdy, in a two-room schoolhouse. Later moving to Lindsay, she attended Lindsay High School, graduating in 1930. She went on to attend Oklahoma A&M College, where she became a lifelong member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. The Depression came along and cut short her college education after three years, and she went to work teaching school at the country school in Alex. This was the beginning of her 34-year teaching career. She eventually completed her education, graduating from East Central University in Ada.
On April 5, 1943, Billie and Joseph Ray (Jodie) Payne Jr. were married in Lindsay. She then moved to Jodie's home in Marlow and continued teaching at Marlow Elementary School. They had a wonderful life together until Jodie's death in 1990.
