Wynema McGrew show her as a daughter of John and Minnie Bullock of Pioneer LA. The obituary of her son, James Carroll McGrew, instead shows his mother as Launa Borders. It appears this may be her name at her death, as James Carroll also had listed as surving him a brothers [step?] Tulley Borders and Dub Borders. It is therefore assumed that Bullock is her maiden name.
James McKinney lists her as Mary Martha Bullock Dishon. It appears that her eldest daughter, Nellie, born ca 1900-1902, was born to Martha's first husband instead of to Thomas G. McLemore.

Dorian James Bunker was born to James A. Bunker and Dorothy R. (Koca) Bunker on September 16,
1949, in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away on October 1, 2017, at Homestead Nursing Home, Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 68 years, 15 days. He was the second of three children.
During high school, he was very involved in sports and music and excelled in both. He was active in 4-H and was selected as Adams County 4-H King in 1969.
Dorian attended Central Nebraska Technical College in Hastings from 1967 through 1969, graduating with an Associates Degree in food service. He was drafted into the Army on September 9, 1969 and was sent to Germany where he served as a General's Enlisted Aide for two years. He was discharged on January 29, 1971.
On February 5, 1972 he was married to Victoria S. Johnson in Hastings, Nebraska. From that union two children were born, Adam J. Bunker and Dori A. Bunker. Dorian was employed by PFM (Professional Food Service Management) that contracted with colleges and universities to manage their food service programs. Beginning in 1972, they lived and worked in Sioux Falls, S.D., fed Boy Scouts in Michigan, then transferred to Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, and then to California Institute of the Arts. In 1975 they moved to Northglenn, Colorado where he fed college students at the Colorado School of Mines.
On January 1, 1977, the family moved to Milligan, Nebraska, and he helped his father and mother run Bunker's Inn & Lounge purchasing the business in 1985. While in Milligan, he was on a bowling league and he also spent many hours fishing and even participated in several out of state fishing tournaments.
Dorian divorced in 1993 and in 1996 married Constance (Hubl) Jarosik. Dorian and Connie made their home in Aurora, Nebraska. He continued in the food service industry until his retirement.
He enjoyed spending time with his step-grandson, Cameron, whom he taught to bowl, and with Cameron's dog "Lucky". He was a member of the American Legion H.S.S.K. Post #240, Milligan.
He is survived by his wife Connie Bunker of Aurora; children Adam J. Bunker and wife, Katie, of Lincoln, Dori Ann Bunker of Omaha and her significant other Steve Stimple of Grand Island; sister Letitia Naprstek, and her husband Dale of Ord; step-children Ed Jarosik and spouse, Tanya Henrichs and spouse, Tiffany Jarosik, Jennifer Jarosik and Darren Jarosik and spouse; step-grandchildren, Cameron, Rachel, Micah, Dakota, Logan, Mya and Raelyn; one niece and one nephew; first cousins and all of his "Bunker" relatives from Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, baby brother Delwyn, and one stepson, Luke Jarosik.
James Adam Bunker was born June 25, 1924 at Montrose, Iowa, the eldest child of Isaac Johnson (Jake) and Martha Ellen (Value) Bunker. He passed away suddenly, after a brief illness on February 4, 2013 in Lincoln, NE. He was 88 years, 7 months, 10 days old.
Jim attended grade school at Alexandria, MO and Vincennes, IA. He graduated from Argyle, IA high school in 1942. He worked on the farms where his dad was employed and was a busboy at Bishop's Cafeteria before enlisting in the US Air Force on October 28,1943. His basic training was Amarillo, TX, being transferred to Pocotella, ID and finally to Bruning, NE.
He was the new baseball catcher on the base team when he caught the eye of a local girl. He and Dorothy Ruby Koca were married December 2, 1944 at the base chapel. To their union 3 children were born: Letitia Angeline, Dorian James, and Delwynne Jay (stillborn).
Jim reported to Dalhart, TX before his overseas departure on May 22, 1945. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with the 507th Fighter Group, 463rd Fighter Squadron, primarily on the island of Ieshima. After Japan's surrender he returned state side and was honorably discharged on April 8, 1946. He belonged to the Geneva, NE VFW Post # 7102 and the Milligan, NE American Legion HSSK Post # 240. In typical Czech fashion Jim and Dorothy enjoyed dancing. Once Jim learned to waltz and polka, they made a very handsome couple on the dance floor. The song "Waltz Across Texas" was a favorite. Jim and Dorothy farmed in the Milligan/Friend area getting started with help from Louis Koca, Jim's father-in-law. In 1955 they struck out on their own and moved to an irrigated farm southeast of Roseland, NE. They worked side by side planting, tending and harvesting crops, cattle and hogs. Jim's pride was his registered herd of black Angus cattle. When he had to disperse his herd, he couldn't bring himself to attend the sale, choosing instead to say "goodbye" as they were trucked off the yard.
After he quit farming, Jim worked for Mid-Rivers Grain Elevator in Roseland. In 1976 he and Dorothy moved back to Milligan where they owned and operated Bunker's Inn Restaurant & Lounge. Son Dorian joined them in 1985 and ultimately purchased the restaurant upon Jim's retirement.
Ever a tender of the land, Jim began putting in a huge garden. He would patiently plot out his plants on a graph of paper and the transfer it all onto his garden plot. There were tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, maybe a zucchini or some onions, all grown just to share with others. His greatest joy of gardening was sharing it with family and friends.
Jim and Dorothy loved to support their grandchildren's events and activities. They spent much of their retirement travelling to those events. Jim loved Cubs baseball and was an avid horserace fan. He didn't always bet, but he studied that program thoroughly for every race.
After Dorothy's stroke in 2006, he became her primary caregiver-cooking, cleaning, doing the laundry, and managing her medication and doctor appointments. After her death in 2010, he remained in the family home firmly independent.
He made sure he stayed involved and in contact with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He made sure that Reed and Rhett had an abundant supply of Grandpa Jim's cookies (graham crackers and frosting) and enjoyed playing Santa with them as his elf helpers.
He was a loving, caring example to family and friends. Proud yet humble. Generous, sometimes to a fault, but always encouraging and upbeat. He always saw his glass half full, never half empty. He always said ,"Leave the world better than you found it" He did just that.
He will be sorely missed by this community and his friends, but mostly by the family who has lost the "rock" on which we all leaned. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy; infant son, Delwynne; his parents; one sister, Wanda; one step-grandson, Luke Jarosik; one step-great granddaughter, Riley Hinrichs.
He leaves to mourn his daughter Letitia (Tish) and Dale Naprstek; his son, Dorian and Connie Bunker; brothers, Carl and Shirley Bunker and Ivan Bunker & Lois White; his sister, Delores Kinkaede and Albert Ewalt; sister-in-law, Angeline (Koca) Brunkow.
Also survived by grand children Adam & Katie Bunker, Dawn and Rick McFadden, Dori Ann Bunker, Tylr and Sabrina Naprstek. Step-grandchildren: Ed Jarosik, Tonia & Kip Hinrichs, Tiffany, Jennifer, Darren Jarosik. Great grandsons: Reed and Rhett McFadden. Step-great grandchildren: Cameron Jarosik, Rachel and Micah Hinrichs, Dakota Jubb.
Memorial services for Jim were held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home - Kotas Chapel in Milligan. Karla Sheffy officiated the services. Deb Brunkow accompanied the congregation in the singing of "In The Garden."
Honorary Pallbearers for the service included Jim's Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren and the Men of the "Smart" table at morning coffee. Graveside inurnment was held in the Bohemian National Cemetery with Military Honors performed by the Milligan American Legion HSSK Post 240. Memorials are directed to the Milligan American Legion.

Daughter of Michael Mathis BURCH and Mary Eloise NASH. Third of five girls in a family of eight. Moved with her family to Duncan, OK, at the age of one.
Homer Strong recounts a story about driving by her home one day, when she was about 90 years old. She was on the roof, removing shingles. He was worried about her, but knew that once she was determined to do something, there was no stopping her. So instead of chiding her for attempting a dangerous task on her own, he suggested they have a pot of coffee and visit. Myrtis dearly loved her coffee. While she was occupied making the coffee, Homer called her son James, and explained the situation. James knew his mothers temperament as well. Within just a few hours, James, his son, and a crew were at her home, and they finished the job. Both James and Homer knew that once Homer left, nothing but that would have stopped her from finishing the job on her own.
Newspaper cutting from 1995 relating to her 100th birthday celebrations in files of Lynell Gentry and Kenneth C. Harvey. At the age of one hundred years, her living relatives (descendants) were; Four (4) children Eleven (11) grandchildren Twenty Seven (27) great-grandchildren Three (3) great-great grandchildren

After his mother died while he was just a baby, he was cared for by his great aunt, Mrs. John Hromadka. (Milligan, p 220). When his father remarried in 1902, John was returned to his father's family. (Milligan, p 222).
Census records show a 2 month old daughter, born in Mar 1900. listed with Frank and Mary at the time of the 1900 Federal Census. This appears to be the "infant child (who) died June 22, 1899 (sic)...". Presumably she died in June, 1900, very shortly after this census was taken. On the census, she is listed as Mary.
According to Cindy Chapman, the daughter of Frank and Mary Bures that died young was Kristina, whose tombstone reads Kristina Bures, 1899-1899.
Is is possible they actually had two daughters that died young?
Richard was stationed at Camp Hale, Colorado while serving in the U.S. Army. After his discharge, he farmed east of Geneva for twelve years. Sylvia M. (Bures) Johnson was born on May 25, 1919 to James and Ella (Schmidt) Bures on the family farm northwest of Geneva. She passed away on April 7, 2016 at Fairview Manor in Fairmont, Nebraska at the age of 96 years, 10 months, and 13 days.
She attended District 81 country school and graduated from Geneva High School in 1936 at the age of 16. While she went to high school, she took piano lessons from Ruth Ann Coddington. Her apartment was upstairs in Kritner Funeral Home. After graduation, Sylvia taught piano lessons for four years to the neighbor kids, receiving $.50 an hour. At one time, she had 32 students. She traveled to their homes to teach them lessons on the piano.
She met Joseph Tesar, and while going together it was war time and there were no jobs. In May of 1942, they went to Paterson, New Jersey and went to work at the Curtis Wright Aeronautical Aircraft Plant. She worked on an experimental single cylinder engine. She worked there for 6 months for $.50 an hour, working on the test cells which were 80 feet high. She would run the motor until a break down and then tear everything apart, change oil, rebuild the motor and start over.
In 1944, Sylvia and Joseph were married, and a daughter, Linda Louise, was born to this union. Their marriage ended in divorce.
In 1947, Ross Johnson came around looking for iron for his welding business. Sylvia and Ross were married on November 5, 1949. Ross had a son, Hubert, from a previous marriage. They worked hard on the farm. On October 30, 1955, a little farmer was born, Lowell Ross.
Sylvia was a member of the First United Congregational Church Of Christ, The Geneva Jr. Township Extension Club, and the VFW Auxiliary. She liked to polka, do embroidery, crochet, and play bingo. She also like to fish, but didn't like eating them. She was an excellent cook. No one ever left without getting plenty to eat.
In January of 2010, She had enough snowdrifts and called Fairview Manor to come pick her up. She resided there until her death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ross; her daughter-in-law Wanda Johnson; and grandson-in-law Kenneth Woodward.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Louis) Schafer of Tobias; sons Lowell Johnson of Geneva and Hubert (Frances) Johnson of Geneva. She is also survived by grandchildren:
Larry (Gina) Schafer of Tobias and their children Mikayla, Hailey, and Kolby
LuAnn (Brian) Jackson of Tobias and their children Brianna, Brandon, and Bridgette, Lonnie (Jamie) Schafer of Tobias and their children Chase and Madison
Lee (Shana) Schafer of Daykin and their daughter Olivia
Eric (Jessie) Johnson of Milligan and their children Liberty, Logan, and Toby
Justin Johnson of Geneva and daughters Kynzley and Alayna
Ross (Elane) Johnson of Geneva and their son Henry
Michael (Louise) Johnson of Lincoln and their children Matthew and family
Connie Woodward of Fairmont and her son Kenneth III and family and her daughters Elizabeth (Keith) Jasperson and Grace Woodward and Matt.
Donna (Dennis) Oliva of Milligan and their children Lindsey (Shane) Stone and family and Colton and his daughter Madison and Nathan Oliva.
Funeral services for Sylvia were held on Monday, April 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva. Pastor Diane Ryder officiated the service. The recorded selections "In The Garden" and "How Great Thou Art" were played during the service.
Pallbearers for the service included Larry Schafer, Lonnie Schafer, Lee Schafer, Eric Johnson, Justin Johnson, and Ross Johnson. Honorary bearers included all of Sylvia's other grandchildren. Interment was held following the funeral service in the Geneva Public Cemetery. Memorials are directed to the Fairview Manor. Online condolences may be left at www.farmerandsonfuneralhome.com
As he was the youngest of the family and lost his father at an early age, his mother, Josefa, lived with him. Tom's Dance-Mor Orchestra furnished music for dances from 1942 - 1945. Besides he and his daughter, Darlene, other members were Frank Koahler, Arthur Aksamit, Rudy and Irene Capek, Charles Jirkovsky, Emil Bernasik and Irene Hospodsky. Tom lost his right hand in a corn sheller accident in October 1946, but continued farming. He later retired to Exeter. (Milligan, pp 222 - 223).
Petr Zakovec emailed, in December 2014, that he had found the wedding record of Anton and Mary, and that the bride, Marie was the "widow of departed Matej ??kovec, blacksmith from Koryta no. 13, daughter of Martin Bure?, farmer from Sedlec no. 12, and Johanna, born Hausner, from Robcice no. 5"
The 1870 Will County, Illinois census shows Anton Sycopp (Soukup) as married to a Mary, six years younger than him, born circa 1826.
The FamilySearch transcription of the 1880 census for Saunders County, Nebraska, shows an Anton Soocop (Soukup) married to a Rosy. If this is the same couple, not only is the first name of the wife listed differently, but both couples have reported ages considerably higher than the ten years you would expect based on the ages on the 1870 census. Rosy is listed as being age 72, born circa 1808. According to her tombstone, Marie was born ca 1814, and didn't die until 1898. This MAY be a different couple.
Nancy Soukup's genealogical chart shows that Marie's maiden name was unknown, however, and that she was first married to a Mr. Zakovec, having two children with him: John Zakovec and Anna Zakovec Hines. Nancy further indicated that Marie's maiden name *might* have been Bures. Additionally, Ken Chromy shows on his Gedcom that the parents of Anton Soukup, Jr. were Anton Soukup, Sr. and Mary Buresh. Neither Nancy or Ken cite a source for this information. It appears that it could be from the death certificate of Anton Soukup, Jr. This shows that he was the son of Anton Soukup and Marie Buresova. The informant for this certificate was Rosarie Soukup, presumably Anton Jr.'s wife, Rosalie Datel Soukup. It is highly probable that she knew her mother-in-law, or at least knew her maiden name. Therefore it seems reasonable to accept that Anton's wife was Marie Bures. Additionally, the death certificate for Marie's daughter by her first marriage, Anna Zakovec Hines, shows that her parents were Maria Bures and Mathew Zakovec. The informant on that death certificated, filed in 1934, was Mrs. John Hines, a daughter in law of Anna's.
It is also noted that on the 1880 Saunders County, NE census, HH 127-127 was that of Barbara BURES and her husband, Vaclas Chlup (transcribed as Kloop), HH 128-128 Frank and Ann Soukup (transcribed as Socoop), HH 129-129 Anton and Rosy Soukup (Socoop), and HH 130-130 Anton (age 75) Soukup (Socoop) and Rosy (age 72, or Marie BURES Soukup)? Both the Chlup and the Soukup were in Bohemia, then Will County, IL, then Saunders County, NE, and finally, Fillmore County, NE.
In his submission to the LDS Ancestral File, Howard Knapp Parker instead shows the parents of Frank M. Soukup (born 4 July 1852) as Mary Zakovec and Frank Soukup of Korytech, Plzen, Bohemia. To further complicate matters, when Frank died in in 1933, the informant for his death certificate stated that he was the son of Frank Soukup and Barbara Hines. The informant for Frank's death certificate was Harry Soukup, his son. Harry's grandparents appear to have died before he was born, so perhaps he had only garbled recollections of their names.
When Veronica Wirka, the younger sister of Anton and Frank, died in 1938, only the last name of her father, Soukup, was reported. Her mother's name was left entirely blank. The informant for this certificate was Mrs. ?.L. Hines of Morse Bluff. Her relationship to Veronica is unknown.
Nancy Soukup of Davey, Nebraska obtained her information about Anton and Marie Soukup from their tombstones at the Killian Cemetery. Killian Cemetery is in Saunders County, just a couple miles west of Morse Bluff. An index to Nebraska's cemeteries is at http://www.rootsweb.com/~necemete/; and #8 is Killian Hill, or the Czech National Cemetery. Many members of the Zakovec, Hines, and Virka families are all buried there.
(Research):At the time of the 1900 census, Mary was living with daughter and son-in-law, Veronika & John Virka, and listed as a widow, age 83, and the mother of 8 children, five of whom were living. Her year of birth was listed as 1819, with the month of birth being shown as unknown.

At the time of the 1910 census, James and Celeste had been married for 18 year. Celeste was noted to have been the mother of four children, all of whom had died. They had two sons shortly thereafter. Evon McLemore said that Celeste committed suicide while her children were still very young. Her tombstone was inscribed "Mother rest in quiet sleep."

Daniel Burkhalter is the earliest proven ancestor. He was born about 1783 in South Carolina and died about 1855 in Pike County, Mississippi. Daniel was an early pioneer to Mississippi and was in Marion County prior to May 8, 1818, when he served on a Jury (Marion Probate Records 1825-1831, page 68) also his brand "ear mark and underslope in the left and underslope and hole in the right" was registered and recorded on November 22, 1818, Book A, page 60. His name appears on the Personal Tax Rolls of Marion County for the years 1819 to 1822, where he is assessed with 1 poll and 1 slave.
The 1820 census for Marion County shows Daniel Burkhalter as head of household with two males under 10, 1 male 26 to 45; 2 females under 10 and 1 female 26 to 45. The males under 10 will prove to be sons Henry and William and the females under 10 will prove to be daughters Eliza and Cynthia Burkhalter. Daniel Burkhalter signed marriage bond in 1820 for James Clark and Mrs. Agnes Kinesly.
Connerly's History of Pike County, 1798-1876, published in 1909, shows that Daniel Burkhalter and his wife, Mary Palmore, came from Georgia to Mississippi, quoting in part as follows: "In this neighborhood Daniel Burkhalter and his wife, Mary Palmore, had settled on Varnal, which empties into Magees Creek just above Sandifer's. Their settlement was on the hill near the ford where the Holmesville and Columbia Road crosses. They owned a negro slave woman who had some children. One was a child just sitting alone, and was left in the yard with a larger child to mind it while the grown people were out at work. A large fat coon came up in the yard, caught the child by the cheek and held on to it. Screams of the children brought the mother to the house to learn the cause and the coon refused to let go. The master had to come and choke the coon to death to make it let go the childs cheek."
The foregoing would place Daniel's homestead somewhat southeast of the present Salem Church. County land records show that Daniel Burkhalter patented land #4169, in Section 21, Township 3, Range 11 East, in what is now Walthall County. The 1829 tax rolls show he owned 160 acres on Magees Creek. Pike County Tax Rolls show Daniel paid poll tax through the year 1831. Record for 1832, 1833, and 1834 are not available, but in 1835 he paid no poll tax but was taxed with 5 slaves; 7 slaves in 1837; and 8 slaves in 1839 and 1840.
Under territorial laws this would show that Daniel was above the age 50 in 1835. The Marion-Pike line placed Daniel's homestead within the boundary of Pike County, where he is shown in the 1850 census as age 67, place of birth as South Carolina, and wife's name as Sarah. This would place his date of birth about 1783, which can be approximated by the fact he ceased to pay poll tax before 1835.
The name of the wife as Sarah in the census could mean that Mary had died and Daniel had remarried or there could have been a discrepancy on the part of the enumerator or the informer.
The next available tax roll after the 1850 census is for the year 1856, and Daniel is not listed thereon, leading to the assumption that he died between 1850 and 1856. It is not established that Daniel Burkhalter served in the War of 1812, but there is an indication that bounty land warrant #291730 was issued to him. At any rate, he was married and living in Georgia prior to 1812, when his first son was born. According to the History of Pike County supra, Daniel Burkhalter and Mary Palmore were parents of nine children, order of birth not known.
The Burkhalters are of German extraction and the name has many spellings, including Burkholders, Buckholtz, Buckhalter, Birkholder, Buckaltz, etc. Published records indicate that the Burkhalters moved out of South Carolina into Georgia, thence to Mississippi and Louisiana, but additional research is necessary to identify the line in Georgia and South Carolina and the immigrant ancestor. Some sources identify the progenitors of this family as Rudolph BURKHALTER and Anna Moschberger of Luetzelflueh Bern Switzerland.
At the time of the 1940 census, he was living in Sabine County, Texas with his maternal grandparents, Wade and Ester Anderson.
