    • Carlos Gene Boyd, 77, of Pineland, Texas passed away in his home on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

      Carlos was born on April 3, 1941 in Kirbyville, Texas and was a graduate of San Augustine High School. He met his love, Betty Cordray Boyd and was married for 56 happy years. He was the owner of Pineland Drive-In for 28 years in which most people called "Carlos's".

      He served on the Pineland City Council for 20 years and was active in the service club, was on the water board, and coached little league baseball for several years. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, watching news and sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys on TV.

      Carlos enjoyed working outdoors and loved and enjoyed his dogs. He was extremely proud of his grandson, Captain Clay Crocker of Clovis, New Mexico and Colton Crocker of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

      Carlos is survived by his wife, Betty Boyd of Pineland, Texas; son, Brian Boyd of Lufkin, Texas; daughter, Tina Crocker and husband, Rodney, of Owasso, Oklahoma; sisters, Patricia Frederick of Houston, Texas and Jean Horton of Bullard, Texas; sister-in-law, Erlene Boyd of San Augustine, Texas; cousin, Ginger Rash of Hemphill, Texas; and grandchildren, Clayton Crocker and Colton Crocker.

      He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary [nee Mary Lerlene Moore} Boyd; father, C. A. Boyd; sister, Mary Nell Echols; and brothers, Jimmy Boyd and Connie Mack Luce.

      Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

      Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright and Bro. T. A. Lane officiating.

      Interment will follow services in Hemphill Cemetery with Jeffery Boyd, Jason Boyd, Jeremy Boyd, Brad Frederick, Rodney Crocker, Colton Crocker, Harold Durham, Sr., Kenny Bobbitt, Tommy Whittington, and Thomas Callihan serving as pallbearers.
