- He applied for a Indigent Soldier Confederate Pension while a resident of Franklin County, Mississippi, at the age of 75. He stated that he enlisted in Copiah County, Mississippi in May 1861. He served in the 38th Mississippi Regiment under Col Bernet and Capt Graves for four years. He was living with a son when he made the application, dated 30 August 1911. He also noted that he had two sisters.
