ARCHER CITY - Hazel R. McIver McMurtry, age 90, of Archer City, Texas, passed away on Monday, Feb. 21, 2000. She had been a resident of Presbyterian Manor in Wichita Falls, Texas, for over 20 years.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at Aulds Funeral Home with Rev. Willie Johnson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Archer City, officiating. Interment will be in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. McMurtry was born July 8, 1909, in Colorado City, Texas, the daughter of Oscar Sylvester and Mary Elizabeth McIver. She and W.J. "Jeff" McMurtry were married June 5, 1934, in Big Spring, Texas. He preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1977. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Archer City for over 50 years.
Survivors include: two sons, Larry McMurtry of Archer City, Texas, and Charlie McMurtry of San Angelo, Texas; two daughters, Sue Deen and Judy McLemore, both of Archer City, Texas; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, James McMurtry, Mitch McLemore, Chad Deen, Matt McLemore and Todd McMurtry. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Smith, Howard Lyles, Charles McDaniel, Mary Webb, Joe Slack and Gowdy Slack.
Memorials may be made to the Book Lady Program of the Archer Community Foundation, P.O. Box 877, Archer City, Texas, 76351; the Royal Theater Fund, P.O. Box 70, Archer City, Texas 76351; or the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1414, Archer City, Texas 76351.
