- Kathy Casagrande writes that Claiborne Waldroup was born Claiborne Parrish Waldrop 1-11-1792 in South Carolina. Claiborne is the son of Hezekiah Waldrop born circa 1772 and Martha Davenport. Hezekiah Waldrop was the child of John Waldrop b. circa 1732 in Hanover Co., VA and Tabitha Parrish. This family can be traced further back to Michael Waldrop b. circa 1680 in VA. The father of Claiborne Waldroup died in MS after 1850 in possibly Holmes County. Paula Jones, a family researcher, states that Claiborne Parrish Waldrop always spelled his name as WALDROP.
No listings for Waldrop or any spelling variation in the Sabine Parish cemetery records.
