She was married December 11, 1907 to Edward Racek who died January 29, 1937. She was a member of the Z.C.B.J. Lodge. Survivors are one son, Raymond, of Morse Bluff; one sister, Mrs. Rudy (Emma) Kavan of Fremont and two grandchildren. Funeral services were Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Moser Funeral Home in North Bend with the Rev. Sherman Ragsdell of Exeter officiating. Organis was Mrs. Donald Proett. She accompanied Ray and Fred Houfek who sang in Czech "Beyond the Sunset" and "Sweet Bye and Bye." Pallbearers wre Arnold Kavan, John Huska, Raymond Kavan, Otto Hines, Lewis Racek and Edward Virka. Funeral services were held in North Bend and from Z.C.B.J. Hall in Morse Bluff on Nov. 2, 1961, the Rev. Walter Millett of Cedar Bluffs officiating. Interment was in Woodland Cemetery, North Bend. He was a church member and an Elder of the United Presbyterian Church in North Bend. He is survived by his wife, Adeline; sons, Jim (Diane) Hines of Morse Bluff, NE, John (Nancy) of Colleyville, TX, and Mark (Patrice) of Morse Bluff, NE; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Irv; and sister, Lillian Bauer. Funeral Service will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the United Presbyterian Church in North Bend. The Rev. Michael Hill will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be Monday from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to service at the church. Burial will be at Killian Cemetery, near Morse Bluff. Joseph Hines born 3-12-1823 IS my Great-great-grandfather. Therefore Joseph (Anna Zakovec) Hines and my Great-grandfather Frank (Mary Bures) Hines were brothers. Also children of Joseph (b. 1823) were John Hines and Mary Hines. Somewhere along the way someone told me that Joseph (1823) was married to Mary Lamischeck. I don't have this verified. I don't even remember who gave me the information. From the book we wrote for the Morse Bluff centennial, ?i?Morse Bluff and Surrounding Rural Area, 1887-1987", ?/i?the following information is given about Joseph Hines (1823). Joseph was born 3-12-1823 in Bohemia. In 1866 he came to Chicago, Il with his children: Joe, Frank, John, and Mary. A year and half later they moved to Braidwood, Il where they worked in the coal mines. In 1871 he came to the Morse Bluff area. His descendants span 6 generations and 115 years in the Morse Bluff area. Joseph died 10-11-1906. As I recall this information was given by Lillian Hines Bauer. She was interested in family history so I believe most of it might be true. However, I believe Frank and Mary Bures came later by a couple of years. Joseph Hines, Koryta, December 1845, came to Braidwood in 1867. Living at date of writing. Obituary: Joseph Hines, one of the earliest settlers in the vicinity of Morse Bluff, died at him (sic) Wednesday of last week. Funeral services were held Friday under the auspices of the Z.C.B.J. lodge, conducted by the Rev. Philipi of Clarkson. Interment was made in the Killiam cemetery. Mr. Hines was born in Czechoslovakia in 1845 and came to the United States in 1868. He located on a farm in Saunders county in 1871 and continued the occupation of farming until his death. He is survived by this wife and the following children: Frank, James, John, Mrs. Edward Racek and Mrs. Rudolph Kavan. Mr Hines lived on the same farm near Morse Bluff for sixty years. Lillian died Thursday, July 15, 2010, at Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont. She was born Sept. 27, 1925, at Morse Bluff. She graduated from North Bend High School and taught at rural schools for two years. She married Joseph D. Bauer on Feb. 7, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cedar Hill. They farmed southwest of Morse Bluff and moved to North Bend in 1982. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the church circle in North Bend and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cedar Hill. She was also a member of a Dodge County extension club. Survivors include: sons, Ron (and wife, Marsha) Bauer of Valentine, Dan (and wife, Kathy) Bauer of Morse Bluff, Dave Bauer of Lincoln, Randy (and wife, Lorrie) Bauer of Chadron, and Jeff (and wife, Louise) Bauer of Morse Bluff; daughters, JoAnne (and husband, Dave) Serel of Phoenix, and Rachelle (and husband, Randy) Eriksen of Omaha; a brother, John (and wife, Adeline) Hines of Morse Bluff; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandhildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie (Vavak) Hines; her husband, stepfather, a son, grandson, two great-grandchildren, a brother and infant sister. The Rev. Donald Cleary will officiate at Tuesday's funeral. Visitation with family present will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend. Rosary will be at 4 p.m. Monday and a Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Visitation wlll continue on Tuesday at the funeral home from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery near Morse Bluff. Memorials may be made to Catholic Social Services. The informant was C. M. Barge, who could be reached c/o the Mexia Cotton Mill. She was buried at Lost Pines Cemetery on October 10, 1936. |

Bernard was born on May 6, 1925 to Henry and Hilda (Higel) Hinrichs on a farm southwest of Ohiowa. He was one of two children. Bernard was baptized on June 7, 1925 by Pastor G. Kratt of St. John's Lutheran Church (South Church) where he was also confirmed the 3rd of September 1939 by Pastor V.R. Pietzko. His memory verse was 2 Cor. 5, Verse 15. He grew up going to country school and graduated from Ohiowa High School in 1943. Bernard was married to Hazel Eich on March 12, 1945. To this union six children were born, Max, Vaughn, Rex, Gary, Carol, and Nancy. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage. Hazel died November 1982. On January 25, 1986 he married Ruby (Bedlan) Peppie. They enjoyed 27 years of marriage. They enjoyed attending numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities, antique tractor shows, and spending many winters in Arizona. Bernard was a farmer and custom combiner traveling from Kingfisher, OK to Jamestown N.D. for 13 years with his dad and brother in-law Louis Schoenholz . Operating the combine was always his passion up until 2012 when he was 87 years young. Bernard loved the good ole days but always looked ahead to new technology. He loved the harvest - missing only one wheat harvest due to health problems. No matter how bad a summer Bernard had, he always perked up in the fall about harvest time. He would always say, "You know, this is my vacation." Bernard started driving truck at age 14 hauling grain away from the combine. He eventually got to operate the combine and loved every minute of it. Bernard's hobbies included going to antique tractor shows, collecting Rumley and Oliver tractors, telling jokes and visiting with friends. Bernard served in the United States Army, was a member of the Fairbury Elks Lodge and was Thayer County Commissioner. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bruning where he served on the Church Endowment Board for many years. He served on many other boards including the Bruning School Board, FHA Board, and Bruning Grain and Feed Board. She passed away Wednesday Oct. 11, 2023, at Oakland Heights in Oakland, Nebraska. Donna grew up on the family farm near Waterloo and attended Waterloo Public School. She graduated in May 1950 as the salutatorian of her class. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Catholic Church in Valley in 1947. During summers she detasseled corn and hoed beans. After graduation she worked at Boys Town running their robotype machines printing out contribution letters. She married Leroy Villwok of Waterloo on Jan. 19, 1952, at the Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, Nebraska. After they were married, they lived in many different places. On June 11, 1957, their first daughter, Marcee Ellen, was born, two years later Rhonda Rae was born on July 16, 1959, and five years later Mark Leroy was born on March 11, 1964. In March 1970 they bought and moved to a farm outside of Craig, Nebraska, where they lived for 27 years. They joined the Lutheran Church of Oakland. When they retired from farming, they moved to Oakland and wintered in Arizona for the next 15 years. In 2011 they moved to Fremont. Leroy and Donna were married for 63 years when Leroy passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident on Sept. 24, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Leroy Villwok. Frances' wishes were to donate her body to science and she will be cremated when they conclude studies and her ashes will be interred in the Exeter Cemetery in a private family ceremony at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Exeter American Legion Auxiliary or the Exeter Fire and Rescue. Frances Mae Becwar was born to Frank J. and Helen M. (Novak) Hladky on May 11, 1926 at Pleasant Hill, Nebraska and passed away peacefully at her home on May 27, 2021 at Savannah Pines Retirement Community in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 95 years and 16 days. In her youth, Frances enjoyed riding horses and her pet dogs and cats. She attended rural school until the 8th grade. In 1944, she began working at the grocery store in Milligan, and she also took an interest in refinishing antique furniture and wood working. She also worked for a time at the Exeter Sundry and the Dime Store. It was also around this time that she met Ernie Becwar, and they were married June 6, 1944. After Ernie was discharged from the Army, they moved to the farm. Frances raised chickens, ducks, and helped Ernie pick corn, by hand, until they were able to afford a one-row picker. Frances and Ernie raised a family and had two sons: Larry and Jack. After the boys were older and entered into school, Frances worked part time at the Friend Dime Store. She also joined a country neighborhood extension club and Legion Auxiliary, which she was a 75 year member. In 1974, Ernie and Frances bought a lot and built a new home in Exeter. Upon moving into Exeter, they became members at the Exeter United Methodist Church and Frances was active in the UMW. Ernie & Frances enjoyed traveling, seeing all the states except the Northeastern states. Frances also did a lot of sewing in her spare time, she loved flowers, enjoyed ceramics, but she especially loved spending time with her grandkids. In 2018, Frances made the choice to sell her home in Exeter and move to Savannah Pines Retirement Community in Lincoln to be closer to family. Frances enjoyed the Savannah Pines community, and she tried to meet as many neighbors as she could, went to every event offered, and went on bus trips. She fit all of these activities in between her chemo treatments, infusions, and doctor's appointments. A few things Frances loved in no particular order would include her family, her friends, a cold beer, shopping, clothes, traveling, flowers, rodeos, Alan Jackson, a full refrigerator, casino trips, polka music and just embracing life in general. Frances took an interest in everyone around her, she was kind, and she led a great life. Frances was preceded in death by her husband Ernie; parents Frank & Helen; and her sister Helen Kubicek. She is survived by her sons Larry & Nancy Becwar of Henderson, Nevada and Jack & Lori Becwar of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandchildren Lane & Paige Becwar, Grant & Amanda Becwar, Kaitlyn & Alex McGinnis, Jake Becwar and friend Brit, Nate Becwar and fianc? She was always willing and happy to help others in need of her assistance. Putting others first has always been a way of life for her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral services were held and the Farmer and Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Sunday, April 3 (sic), at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clifford Bahr, officiating. She is survived by her children, Woodie Dorsey and wife, Angie, of Milam, Loriessa (Lou) Foshee of Mansfield, La., and Benji Dorsey and wife, Shellie, of Greenwood, La.; bonus daughter, Cynthia Conn Bibey; grandchildren, Travis Dorsey, Bethany Dorsey, Jacob Dorsey, Eric Foshee and wife, Lindsey, Tyler Rogers and husband, Eric, Maylon Foshee, Kallie Dorsey and husband, Ghassan Hassoon, and Benjamin Dorsey; great grandchildren, Easton Foshee, Hudson Foshee, Tucker Foshee, Brylee Rogers, Diesel Rogers and two more great grands on the way; sisters, Mary Lawrence and Geneva Pickering; brother, Lenord Hobbs; and very special friend, Marcel Harper. His first application for a pension, made in 1910, was rejected because they could not find his name in the rolls. It was approved in 1926. His brother's, G.A Hodges and L.C. Hodges, both of Sterling City, Texas stated they knew he served for three years. G.A. had served in the same company and regiment. An affadavit of witnesses, dated August 5, 1926 is signed by J.Williamson and Elmer Williamson. Elmer may be the son in law of John M. Gentry and J. Williamson could be either Jerry or his son Jason Williamson. In HISTORY OF JOHNSON COUNTY, TEXAS, in a story about his father, it states that Benjamin was a farmer in Indian Territory. A Hodges descendant gave the names of the children to Lynell Cordell in February 1999. His father was Newel Hodges and Theodocia Lindsey. At the time of the 1910 and 1920 federal census enumerations, the widowed Benj. Hodges was living in the home of his son-in-law, also a widower, Arthur C. Manire. |

Clovis was born in Hemphill to Henry and Naomi Hogan and had lived in Hemphill most of her life. Clovis attended the Rosevine Church of God and was a member of the Hemphill VFW Ladies Auxillary. Mrs. McLemore is survived by her husband Rufus McLemore of Hemphill, her daughter Charlotte Peters and husband Gene of Cypress, TX, her son Maxie McLemore and wife Mary Anne of Victoria, TX, eight grand children, seventeen great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Wilson Hogan of Fort Worth, four sisters, Christine Bass of Diboll, Merline Elrod, Dorothy Chaney, and Patsy Vrooman all of Hemphill. He was known for his love of Miller Lite and riding buggies in the mud. He also enjoyed noodling and being on the lake with his family and friends. He loved his family and his nephews were his world. He would go golfing with them and even named his work truck after them, K&C (Kason & Carter). He was a talented diesel mechanic and he could fix anything from 4 wheels to 18 wheels. JoJo is survived by his mother, Dawn Hogan and husband, Randy, of Nacogdoches, Texas, his sisters, Kelly Holifield and husband, David, of Hemphill and Angel Hogan of Nacogdoches, Texas, his brother, Matthew Hogan and wife, Destiny of Nacogdoches, Texas, aunt, Tara Huffman and cousin, John Huffman, nieces, Brinley Jo and Avery and nephews, Kason, Carter and Langston, Kaylee, Kreed and Kross along with many, many more friends and family. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Hogan, grandmother, Sue Nell Hogan (61270814), grandfather, R. L. Hogan (33195695), and uncle, Thomas Jones (220833438).
