He was a DPM CD-Chiropractor, and was trained, along with his wife, at the Hinsdale Sanitarium, an Adventist Hospital just outside Chicago. He graduated in 1917, with his wife graduating in 1919. They were Missionaries in Hawaii for several years before Sylvia's death.
