Gender Male Died 16 Dec 2006 Notes - Francis "Fritz" Greenlee passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2006 after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer's disease. As he did with so many aspects of his life, Fritz faced his illness with an optimism and resilience that reflected the strength and joy of his inner spirit. Fritz was born March 5, 1933 in Donora, PA to Clinton and Rose (Walsh) Greenlee. He was united in marriage to Faye A. Kotas on April 12, 1958 in Lincoln, NE. Fritz, first and foremost was a warm, loving and generous husband, father and grandfather. The first part of his career was spent serving his country for in the United States Air Force, where he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. After that, Fritz worked for Nebraska Public Power for almost 20 years, where he retired as Warehouse Manager. Fritz thrived in the outdoors in the presence of animals and nature. He adored dogs and enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping, gardening, walking, and ice skating. He was also a very humble and gracious man, quick to help anyone in need without asking for anything in return. He volunteered his time to numerous organizations including the York American Legion Post, the Knights of Columbus, Big Brothers, and the church.
He is survived by his loving wife Faye of 48 years; three daughters, Monica Milleson of Omaha, Mary Greenlee of Avoca, IA and Jennifer (Bill) Ramsey of Highlands Ranch, CO; two grandsons Nathaniel and Ethan Milleson; sisters Betty Anderson of Donora, PA and Margie (Steve) Petrus of Belle Vernon, PA; sister-in-law Barbara Greenlee of Alexandria, VA; many nieces and nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers James and Donald Greenlee.
A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday December 20, 2006 at St Joseph's Catholic Church in York. Burial followed at the St Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
