For the second time within a week death entered the Boyett home and
claimed Mrs. R. E. Boyett just three days after her beautiful little
granddaughter Bobby Louise Coon had died. Pneumonia was the cause of
the death of both. Mrs. Boyett was critically ill when little Bobby
Louise was called to her Heavenly Home. Mrs. Boyett died Thursday
afternoon, March 7 and the body was buried in the Junction cemetery
by the side of her little granddaughter late Friday afternoon, Rev.
    R. Elmer Dunham, pastor of the Baptist Church officiating.

Mrs. R. E. Boyett was born in Sabine county on July 22, 1877, and
spent all her life in Texas. When 15 years of age she was married to
    R. E. Boyett and to this union were born seven children--five daughters
    and two sons. The surviving children are Mrs. L. H. Cordray, Lakeside;
Mrs. Clarence Holbert and Mrs. Jas. Nobles of Beaumont; Mrs. Willie
Coon and Miss Annie Laurie Boyett of Junction; A. P. Boyett, Corpus
Christie; and Ernest Boyett, Austin. Two sisters, Mrs. Abbie McGown
and Mrs. J. O. Boyett, both of Bronson and about 11 grandchildren and
4 great grandchildren besides many other relatives who also survive.

She moved to Junction four years ago to be with her son Ernest who
was employed here. During her residence here she made many close friends.

Early in life she was converted and united with the Baptist Church.
She lived a consecrated Christian life. Her life was a benediction to all
who knew her. She lived only 57 years but her life was one of service.
It was marked with deeds of kindness and cheer. She scattered flowers
and sunshine wherever she went. She loved her home, her children and her
friends and in her homegoing her children have lost a devoted mother,
her neighbors a true and faithful friend, and the community a loyal citizen.
It can be said of her that she was a woman of strong Christian character--
    patient, loving and self-sacrificing.

    Notes:

Willie was married first to Titus Coon, who was the father of her only child, daughter Bobbie. He left the family when Bobbie was born, leaving sole responsibility for raising their chid with Willie.

Both Bobbie Louise, still just a toddler, and Willie's widowed mother, Clarissa Conn Boyett, died within a few days of each other from pneumonia in March, 1935. Willie had been caring for them both.

Martha White, a niece of Willie's wrote that "Apparently Bobbie was a beloved, vivacious child adored by the whole community. Willie had saved the dress "they tore off my baby" when she was ill...and all the sympathy notes. There is a lovely story I never heard--until Mom [Annie Lora Boyett White] was in the nursing home and had dementia--and it was at a sermon Jackson [Boyett, Marti's cousin] gave. When Grandmother (who also was beloved and a popular member of the Junction community) and Bobbie died in the same week...it was rough in so many ways. She (Clarissa) had cooked for prisoners in the jail, as Ernest was sheriff then. One was financial. Times had been very, very hard for a long time and our family was poor...Anyway, Ernest went to the funeral home to make arrangements to try to pay for the funerals and was told there was no bill. What? Yes, the community thought so highly of him, Grandmother, Bobbie and the family that they had all contributed and paid off the two funerals. So, there are deep, abiding and loving roots with our family in Junction.
All are buried in the Junction cemetery.

Later in her live, Willie worked for the State and also worked at times at the Capitol.
Her husband, Sox [Hoy Reginald Smith], worked and retired from the Texas General Land Office.

The following biography, from FindAGrave, was also prepared by Martha White

Willie Orma Boyett was born to Robert and Clarissa Boyett in Sabine County, Texas on October 17, 1903. Mrs. Smith's first marriage to Titus Coon in East Texas produced one adorable child - a daughter named Bobbie Louise Coon - who passed away at age 4 of pneumonia - three days before Willie's own mother died of the same in Junction, Texas in 1935. Willie never got over the loss of her precious girl. Willie remarried Hoy Reginald "Sox" Smith in Kimble County, Junction, Texas, on Christmas Day 1939. Willie and Sox were married for 39 years until his death in January 1979. Wille is buried in Junction by her daughter, Bobbie Coon, her Mother Clarissa Conn Boyett and her husband, Hoy R. "Sox" Smith. Mrs. Smith loved to cook, can, garden and sew. She was always helping out others whether sending over food or making baby clothes for families who could not afford to buy any. She was a loving daughter, wife, sister and aunt. She is greatly missed.

Willie married Samuel Titus Coon, Sr. about 1929. Samuel was born on 15 Feb 1907 in Cass County, Texas; died on 19 Aug 1974 in Jasper County, Texas; was buried in Trout Creek Cemetery, Newton County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Children:
    1. 21. Bobbie Louise Coon  Descendancy chart to this point was born on 22 Sep 1930 in Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas; died on 4 Mar 1935 in Junction, Kimble County, Texas; was buried on 5 Mar 1935 in Junction, Kimble County, Texas.

Willie married Hoy "Sox" Reginald Smith on 25 Dec 1939 in Junction, Kimble County, Texas. Hoy was born on 17 Nov 1902 in Texas; died on 28 Jan 1979 in Travis County, Texas; was buried in Junction Cemetery, Junction, Kimble County, Texas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  5. 6.  Ernest Jackson Boyett Descendancy chart to this point (1.Clarissa1) was born on 19 Dec 1906 in Sabine County, Texas; died on 3 Aug 1985 in Travis County, Texas; was buried in Junction Cemetery, Junction, Kimble County, Texas.

    Notes:

According to the SSDI, his last residence was Telegraph, Texas, Martha White found information from research prepared by the City of Austin Historic Landmark Commission that indicated Ernest J. Boyett purchased the town of Telegraph, Texas in Kimble County in 1944, and apparently held it until 1963. He was listed as a rancher and owned land in Kimble County in the vicinity of his mentor, former Texas Governor Coke Stevenson. His sister-in-law, Mary Bolt, operated the Telegraph Post Office from 1947 to 1950.

Services Scheduled Tuesday for aide to former governor

Services for Ernest J. Boyett, an executive secretary to former Gov. Coke Stevenson and a former sergeant-at-arms in the state House of Representatives, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church at Junction.

Boyett, a resident of Telegraph in Kimble County, died Saturday at the age of 78.

Born in Sabine County, he became a deputy sheriff in Kimble County and city manager in Junction.

In 1935, he moved to Austin and became the first full-time sergeant-at-arms in the House of Representatives under Stevenson, who was speaker. When Stevenson became governor in 1941, Boyett became his executive secretary, a position he held until 1946.

He served as acting sergeant-at-arms in the House of Representatives at the start of every session since 1935.

Boyett is survived by a son Jackson Boyett of Austin; a step-son, Ben Lindsey of Waco; and three sisters.

Bio from FindAGrave (courtesy of Martha Ann White)

One of 9 children born to Robert Edgar and Clarissa Abi Conn Boyett in East Texas. He moved to Junction, Texas where his only brother, Aaron Patrick Boyett, resided. His first marriage was to Sylvia Bolt and ended at her death in 1974. Ernest remarried on November 26, 1975 to Mrs. Frances Lindsey of Austin to whom he was married until his death. Mr. Boyett lived in Kimble County on his ranch that adjoined the of ranch of Coke Stevenson (Texas's World War II Governor). Boyett was the Mayor of Telegraph, Texas and in fact Boyett created Telegraph, Texas and got it on the map, literally. Telegraph consisted of Mr. Boyett's house, the Pink House, the General Store he owned and had a population high of 6! Mr. Boyett served as Governor Stevenson's Executive Secretary. Ernest was connected to a famous bit of Texas history - he was working for Gov. Stephenson when Stevenson ran for election to the United States Senate against President Lyndon B. Johnson. Gov. Stevenson was winning until Box 13 in Duvall County was found and the votes therein narrowly gave the election win to LJB. In addition, Boyett was Sargeant-of-Arms for the Texas House of Representatives. Finally, Mr. Boyett was the Public Relations Director for the Lone Star Book Depository a position he held for many years and until his death. Ernest was preceded in death by both parents, all but three of his siblings, and his first wife Sylia Bolt Boyett.

After he died there was a resolution from in the Texas Legislature honoring his years of service. This resolution can be viwed here:

Her daughter, Martha, writes that Annie Lora worked for the State of Texas and retired in 1987 with 20 years service from working on the staff for the Texas House of Representatives. This was despite battling three types of cancers from 1971 forward.

After she retired there was a resolution from in the Texas Legislature honoring her years of service.

An old newspaper column. Called "The Sage of the Sage Hills, TOM MARTIN, Says..."Wonder why all beauties cain't have a personality like Anne Boyett in the liquor control board. Anne is not only purty but she has a sense uv humor equal to an ole puncher. She can laugh until it is time to quit laughin'. Boy, whut a politician she's make..." (Seems to be a mainly political remarks column) -- back of print on other side is a Feb 26th date...no year. ..unfortunately, date cut off.

Martha also had a press clipping from Texas Press Association, News Herald, Kilgore, Texas dated Oct 26, 1980. Headline "Clayton will seek 4th term, Lewis says." Photo above article has group of staff and a clear photo of my Mom standing right near the Speaker. Caption: "CLAYTON GREETED--Texas House Speaker Billy Clayton, right, acquitted by a federal court jury of FBI Brilab accusations, is greeted by members of his staff as he arrives in Austin. Obituary

Beloved mother, Anne L. Boyett White, 73, went to be with Our Lord after a lengthy illness on December 10, 1995. Ms. White was a lifelong Texan born in Sabine County, the ninth and last child of Robert E. and Clarissa A. Conn Boyett. All her siblings preceded her in death. Ms. White grew up in Junction, Texas, graduating from Junction High School in 1940. She lived in Austin since 1945, where she attended the University of Texas. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

Ms. White retired in 1987 from the Texas House of Representatives after 20 years of service to the State of Texas. During her tenure as a staff member for the Texas House of Representatives, she was loved and admired for the bravery and courage she exhibited while fighting three different types of cancer over the years. She was very tenacious, often going to work on days when no one could imagine where she found the strength. She faced whatever life tossed her way with grace and a positive attitude. Ms. White always thought of others before herself. She was a caring and devoted sibling. As a mother, she set an example of how one should live life that will be difficult to follow. To describe the type of mother she was is easy - she was simply the best. No child has ever had a more loving, caring and supportive Mom.

Ms. White was never too busy to help a friend or a stranger. Animals and children gravitated towards her. She loved to work the daily crossword puzzle and has been known to play Scrabble until 4:00 a.m. when given the chance. Her motto was ''Be Nice'' and through her loving nature she earned the respect and love of all she knew. Ms. White is survived by her immediate family: Martha, Winston and Fala White.

Others survivors include her nephew, The Reverend Jackson Boyett and his wife Barbara, of Austin; her niece, Billie Cushway and her husband, Stan, of Modesto, California; The Honorable Clayton Evans and his wife, Yvonne, of Burnet; her niece, Sammie Lehmann and her husband, Bill, of Texas City; her nephew, Aaron Patrick Boyett and his wife, Bette, of Ft. Worth; numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and cousins. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Hospice of Austin.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice of Austin or the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. Funeral services will be held at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 13, 1995. Reverend Anne Hoey will be officiating. Interment and graveside services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Ft. Worth, Texas at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday. Arrangements by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, 452-8811.

    Obituary
    From FindAGrave

Cyndi Rocha, loving wife, mother, grammy, aunt and friend passed away unexpectedly. She was 52 years old. Born and raised in Texas, nearly her entire adult life was spent in the Riverdale/Lemoore area of the Central Valley.

Cyndi had a diverse professional career. She worked as a paralegal, an administrative assistant, a locator at Kings County's Department of Child Support Services, and, until her death, as the Visitor Services Manager at the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture in Hanford.

In addition to her professional life, Cyndi donated her time and energy to helping others in need. Remembered as an extraordinary listener, she often took on the individual burdens of those experiencing personal problems. Cyndi did not like injustice or to see people suffer. If someone had a problem, she would fix it. As a result, Cyndi will be remembered by so many people for the profound impact that she had on their lives.

Nearly everyone who knew Cyndi would remark that she made them laugh. Her sense of humor was infectious and always appreciated. Cyndi was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She left us so unexpectedly and she will be missed dearly.

Cyndi is survived by Stan, her loving husband of 34 years; son, Ryan, his wife Carrie; grandchildren, Amanda and Aaron; son, Shawn; daughter, Jill, her husband William Rule, granddogs Max and Mia; and her dogs, Lilly, Peenie and Cassie, whom she loved immensely.

A visitation was held on Monday, April 6, at Phipps-Dale Funeral Chapel in Lemoore. Recitation of the Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, April 7, at St. Peter's Catholic Church with burial following at the Lemoore Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Clark Center for Japanese Art and Culture, 15770 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230, Cyndi's beloved employer for the past six years.
