Appendicitis Causes Death of Clayton A. Schenck

Was Ill But Two Weeks; Funeral Friday Afternoon at Evangelical Church

Clayton A. Schenck passed away Wednesday morning following an operation for appendicitis which he underwent at Pleasant Home hospital Monday evening. He had been ill about two weeks.

Clayton Arthur Schenck was born on the Schenck farm two miles northwest of Cass City on May 30, 1891. He attended the public school here until he completed the tenth grade and then devoted his attention to farming, assisting his father, Travis Schenck, on the latter's farm.

On April 29, 1913, he was united in marriage with Miss Alma Striffler and to this union two children were born.

Mr. Schenck has been a member of the Evangelical church since 1914 and was very active and faithful in the various church organizations and services. He was also an efficient member of the Cass City Band. He was a young man of strong character and clean habits. It is hard to give up one whose influence among men has been for good and who by precept and example was so well calculated to spread abroad the influence of godly living. The community extends sincere sympathy to the bereaved family.

Besides his wife and two small children, Donald, age 5 years, and Ruth, 2 yrs, he leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Travis Schenck, two brothers, Stanley Schenck of Chisholm, Minn., and Verne Schenck of Detroit and one sister, Mrs. John McGrath, jr., of Cass City.

Funeral services will be held at the Evangelical church this (Friday) afternoon at two o'clock, Rev. A.H. Butzbach officiating.
