    Valton Gayle Beckham, 61, of Beaumont passed away, Thursday, in the St. Elizabeth Hospital, Beaumont, Texas. Valton was born in Pineland, Texas, to James Valton and Juanell Tompkins Beckham.

    He owned and operated Beckham's Hardware store in Hemphill for many years before moving to Beaumont. One of Valton's hobbies was playing the drums, which he started playing in H.I.S.D with the "Little Green Band" and enjoyed playing the rest of his life. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont.

    Valton is survived by his wife Sherry Beckham of Beaumont, his sons: Bradley Beckham and wife Amy of Nacogdoches, Rodger Maples, Jr. and wife Carrie of Alvarado, Floyd Maples of Bryan, his daughter Rita Marie Spears of Livingston, his grandchildren; Blake Beckham, Josie Beckham, Matthew Maples, Rebecca Maples, Rhonda Alexander, Jack Campbell, and Taylor Campbell, three great grandchildren and numerous aunts and uncles. Valton was preceded in death by his parents James Valton Beckham and Juanell Tompkins Beckham.

    Visitation will be from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, Sunday, November 6, 2016, in the Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr St., Hemphill, Texas. Funeral services will be at 11:00am, Monday, November 7, 2016, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Cooper Harris Cemetery, Geneva, Texas. There will also be a memorial service Wednesday, November 9, 2016, at 11:00am in the Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont, Texas.
