    Mr. James A. "Jim" Nance, age 91, was born February 7, 1922, in Grand Saline, Van Zandt County, Texas to Charlie and Bettie (Staples) Nance. He entered into rest January 25, 2014, in San Augustine, Texas.

    Jim was a lifelong member of the Antioch Church of Christ and worked most of his life as a mechanic. His long time hobbies were restoring old tractors, working tirelessly on his family genealogy, and gardening. After selling his auto repair shop, he worked at the San Augustine Public Library helping others retrace their family roots.

    Jim served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II on the USS Joyce in the North Atlantic, and later in the South Pacific after Germany surrendered. He was a member of the VFW Post 9313 in San Augustine.

    He is survived by sons, Frank Nance and wife Joann of San Augustine, Kenneth Nance of San Augustine, John Nance and wife Phyllis of Jefferson; daughter, Wendy Looney of Jefferson; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

    As well as his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Winnie Ponder Nance; brother, Edwin Ford Nance; son, Barry Charles Nance, and grandson Scotty Joe Nance.

    James married Winnie Ponder on 8 Aug 1944. Winnie (daughter of Berry Ponder and Lillie Eppes) was born on 22 Aug 1923 in San Augustine County, Texas; died on 6 Sep 2012 in San Augustine County, Texas; was buried in Antioch Cemetery (Caucasian), San Augustine County, Texas.     Frank was born January 2, 1946, in San Augustine, Texas, to parents Winnie (Ponder) Nance and James A. Nance. After High School, he proudly served in the United States Army. After the military, he retired from Aerospace Engineering and then moved back to his beloved hometown of San Augustine with his beloved wife of 22 years Joann. He was an active member of the V.F.W. Post #9313, where he had served as Past Commander, and was a member of the Redland Masonic Lodge #3 in San Augustine. He was affiliated with the Antioch Church of Christ in San Augustine County, Texas.

    Those who are left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joann Nance of San Augustine; children, Amy Ivy and Tim of Azle, Texas, Theresa Sloan of N. Richland Hills, Texas, and Sean McCullough and Eva if Ft. Worth, Texas; brother, Johnny Nance and Phyllis; sister, Wendy Nance and Gordon Vaughn, along with 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Winnie and James A. Nance; son, Scotty Nance; daughter, Vannita Mayberry; brothers, Chuck Nance and Kenneth Nance.

    Pallbearers: Ty McCoy, Cody McCoy, Casey Nance, Casey Allen Nance, Brandon Sloan, Chris McCullough, Sean McCullough and Jody Nance.

    Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, located at 316 West Columbia Street in San Augustine. Officiating will be Jeff Boyd with interment following in the Antioch Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas.

    Visitation will be Thursday evening, November 4, 2021, from the hours of 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel in San Augustine.

    Barry Charles "Chuck" Nance was born in Grand Saline, Texas, on April 15, 1947, to James and Winnie (Ponder) Nance. He entered into rest in San Augustine, Texas, on August 1, 2010, attaining the age of 63 years, 3 months and 17 days.

    Chuck was a member of Antioch Church of Christ. During the Vietnam war he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #9313 in San Augustine and the American Motorcyclist Association.

    Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Antioch Church of Christ in San Augustine County. Officiating will be Alton Shaw and Darwin Roraback.

    His survivors include: Daughter and Son-In-Law: April Franco and her husband, Jeremy of New Orleans, La; Son and Daughter-In-Law: Kenneth Nance and his wife, Shannon of Jefferson; Children of whom he raised: Crystal Foshee of Natchitoches, La; Marty Hutto of Natchitdoches, La; Priscilla Bynog of Natchitoches, La; Parents: James & Winnie Nance of San Augustine; Brothers: Frank Nance and his wife, Joann of San Augustine; Kenneth Nance of San Augustine; John Nance and his wife, Phyllis of Jefferson; Sister: Wendy Looney and her husband, Andy of Jefferson, along with 10 grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

    Mr. Kenneth Nance, age 67 of San Augustine, passed from this life on Monday evening, June 27, 2016, at his residence in San Augustine.

    Kenneth was born to Winnie (Ponder) Nance and James Alfred Nance on September 28, 1948, in San Augustine County, Texas. He served in Vietnam in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, and was a member of the Black-horse Society. He was employed as a Brick Mason working in Construction. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

    He is survived by daughter, Kelley Downey of San Antonio; Sons, Jody Nance of San Augustine and Casey Nance and his wife, Kelly of San Augustine; Brothers, Frank Nance and his wife, Joann of San Augustine; Johnny Nance and his wife, Phyllis of Jefferson; Sister, Wendy Looney of Jefferson; His grandchildren, Kendra Downey; Madeline Jolene Nance; Casey Nance, Jr., and Brittan Nance.

    He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Winnie Nance; Brother, Barry Charles Nance and nephew, Scotty Nance.

    Pallbearers will include, Jody Nance, Casey Nance, Frank Nance, Dean Thompson, Ken Nance, and Johnny Nance.

    Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016, in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, with interment following in the Antioch Cemetery in San Augustine County. Visitation will be Thursday evening. June 30, 2016, from the hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine County, Texas 75972.

    The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the San Augustine Community Athletic Association in Kenneth's Memory. He was very passionate about the future of our youth in the community, and took great pride and care in the facilities.
